I want one now ....
That was probably a pretty expensive toy back then. Can you imagine taking it to show and tell in these modern times. The amount of SWAT that would have to be deployed to handle the situation was be a sight to see. Introduced in 1964, if you really want one I found one on EBAY for $350.00.
I don't remember how much they cost, but it was more than my parents were willing to spend:mad: My neighbor had the Man From Uncle radio gun, I was sooo jealous!
Coming to a SEAL team near you!

We hear in our circles that the platform, offered in 1952, is nearly through Army Material Appropriations Testing and on pace to break appropriation request to fielding standards.
The 007 Boy with the radio gun is Kurt Russel ......back when boys wanted to be men and shoot someone! :)

Grrrrrrrrr .....
Now, I really want to go back in time, when it was okay to be a little boy and not have "helicopter parents" and the government deciding what was best for us.

Then there is the early cowboy version of concealed carry. Can you imagine a kid trying to get through the airport with this rig? The TSA would go apoplectic, then dog pile, taze, throat-punch, and billy-club the unfortunate youth who dared to travel with this cool little gimmick.

There were reasons that we spent a lot of time outside, not the least of which was the lack of air-conditioning. ;)

There was a procurement contract to buy 5000 SOFMOD kits for the Johnny-Seven-One-Man-Army battle rifle...
The SOFMOD kit came with a Surefire suppressor, an M9 Phrobis-3 bayonet, a side mount laser range finder, a one piece free floating lightweight monolithic carbon fiber hand guard, a leaf site for the grenade launcher that was mounted on the top of the one piece free floating lightweight monolithic carbon fiber hand guard, a Tango-Down foregrip mounted to the bottom of the one piece free floating lightweight monolithic carbon fiber hand guard, a set of mag-pull back up iron sites that mount to the front of the one piece free floating lightweight monolithic carbon fiber hand guard, a VTAC adjustable sling with ABS plastic sling swivel that attaches to the one piece free floating lightweight monolithic carbon fiber hand guard, a flat dark earth phenolic resin high impact stain resistant seven position skeletonized fully adjustable folding stock, a variable power ruggedized aluminum riflescope with an LED illuminated first focal plane bullet drop compensating reticle, a back up Dr Site with 4 MOA high visibility dot, a four pocket multi-cam padded combination deployment bag and shooting mat, a OTIS cleaning kit and a yellow blank adapter...
Unfortunately because of budget cuts we only had funding for 250 C-Mags with the floor mounted bipod conversion.
A lol story.....I use to buy pistols thru Guns & Ammo when I was 13....just check the 'I am 21' block and they'd be mailed to your house.
I got a concealed carry shoulder holster and when the parents took us to Chicago to a fancy dinner (kid sport coat)...I'd carry my Berretta .32.
I was a double nought spy myself.....never got busted.
