Wow! This will allow us to own quality repos of great paintings or self portraits made in the style of the masters. I love the 3D printing to replicate brush strokes. :lifter

Still waiting for my flying car, though. :mad:

I was thinking the same thing. But, they would also have to have the correct mixture of colors and chemicals for the time period. Probably harder to do than paint the picture.

It's getting the cow dung proportion right that is the main problem ... and you can carbon date cow dung ....

The problem for forger's is/are the paints that were made in the period of the painting.
Even tho that copying technique works in layering and proper appropriate brush strokes I doubt that the composition of the 'oils' is anywhere near.
Trace elements, not existing in Rembrandts day, often give away a very good forgery.
It is brilliant work.
