Leader of Oregon occupation Ammon Bundy, three others arrested
BY KATU.COM STAFF TUESDAY, JANUARY 26TH 2016

HARNEY COUNTY, Ore. — KATU News has learned the leader of the armed occupation at Malheur Wildlife Refuge - Ammon Bundy - has been arrested, along with three other individuals Tuesday evening.

Officials said it all began with a traffic stop while Bundy and some of his followers were en route to a community meeting in John Day, about 70 miles away.

Shots were fired after FBI agents, Oregon State troopers and other law enforcement agencies made the stop. CNN reports its unclear who fired first.

Details of the arrest remain unknown, but charges are pending related to the group's 25-day takeover of the wildlife refuge.

Bundy and dozens of other individuals occupied the wildlife refuge earlier this month after two local ranchers were sent to prison for setting fires on federal land.

PR nightmare.

Read somewhere that this guy (the one killed) had driven into town and attended church on Sunday.
Why not arrest him then?

Stupid move on the feds part. I hope the shooting was caught on video. The conspiracy folks are already coming out saying the guy had surrendered and was laying on the ground when he was shot three times. There are accounts that dispute this last thing as well.
(And his wife had just driven up from AZ to help him celebrate his 56th b'day.)

It is not clear at this time that the people arrested fired any shots.
Body or dash-cam evidence is not something I will be holding my breath for.

I know it doesn't take much, but here's something a cut above MSNBC... (http://www.oregonlive.com/oregon-standoff/2016/01/militant_shot_and_killed_while.html#incart_maj-story-1)

Interestingly, the occupier/driver of the lead vehicle who was the first pulled out & who makes this video, was not arrested.

This won't get much traction. The FBI has already seeded the minds of the locals and controlled the message (to wit: these heavily armed clowns in their camouflage outfits and cowboy hats are here to rape yur women and drink all yur beers!) The words of a self-proclaimed witness says he was "a mile away in the twilight" and the other a "hysterical" 18-y/o gospel singer on sabbatical.

(Possibly Armed) White man gets shot by police! Yep, nothing to see here...

RIP and Happy Birthday Mr. Finicum. A martyr will not become you. Most people can't say "Malheur Refuge" as well as "Ruby Ridge" or "WACO".

The charges of "impeding officers from discharging their duties through the use of force, intimidation or threats" will be hard pressed to hold up in court. So expect them to walk with a gag order to never talk to the media about the shooting of an old man with a cowboy hat.

The words of a self-proclaimed witness says he was "a mile away in the twilight" ...Then later in another story it was 200 yds; this is why witnesses are so reliable.

They missed some serious opportunities in terms of message, mission planning, etc. etc. etc. They had some serious statist & local enemies from the jump & when sufficient locals didn't want them around (even though 30 miles away) they missed what Kenny Rogers was singin' about. My view only.

Prayers for Mrs. Finicum & family.

Saw somewhere that his residence was Cane Beds, Arizona.
That's one of the areas I deliver.

It's a small area (not a town) and there are a few Finicum residences out there.
If it's the one I'm thinking of, they always seemed quite harmless.

Who knows, maybe he was quite the Rambo and this was the only way to arrest him.

Somehow I think he was a quiet man, the "silent majority" who had finally had his fill. Who knows maybe I'm wrong and his legacy will create change in the chaos.

Either way he's dead now and it'll be up to those who knew his final moments to paint a masterpiece mosaic of his life.
