Two days ago, Sarah Palin came out endorsing Donald Trump. Yesterday, Bob Dole came out and said that Ted Cruz was "too extreme" to be president. As you will note from the attached article, Dole said the same thing about Reagan before Reagan beat Jimmy Carter.
I have been a fan of Cruz since he began standing up to individually fight the problems he saw in DC. Although I don't yet know who I'm voting for, I find it rather odd that the GOP Establishment is already working so hard against Cruz.
When I hear Sarah Palin breaking squelch (what the hell happened to her voice?), paired with the Establishment people working so hard against Cruz, it tells me that Cruz must be on to something.
At this point, I have no idea who I'm voting for, but I do see a lot of talent in the GOP field. I really don't need Palin or Dole telling me a damned thing. I'm not so sure what I think about candidate endorsements, but I really detest endorsements coming from DC.

I don't see Sarah Palin's endorsement as much of an advantage, it might get Trump some additional free airtime, but that is about it.
Bob Dole says Cruz is too extreme, yet Bloomberg reports that 'The Specter of Donald Trump Is Haunting Davos'.
It will be interesting to see if Trump, Cruz and Bernie tank and the establishment pulls one out for Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton so they can continue business as usual.

I have said before, I will vote for whomever the Republicans nominate. I like Ted Cruz. That fact that he is despised by most of the Senate says a lot about his character. He is not a business as usual senator. He sees the corruption and self-serving greed that drives most of the people in Congress and wants to change it. I can get behind that. I don't know what skeletons are in his closet, I just hope they aren't fatal...

Re Cruz:
If he wins the nomination the issue of natural born versus naturalized at birth will take on a life of its own. After 8 years of people ( some even on this board) questioning whether POTUS is a citizen, the other side is going to have a field day.

So why all the brouhaha about where Obama was born, given that there’s no dispute that his mother, Ann Dunham, was a citizen? Because his mother was 18 when she gave birth to the future president in 1961 and so couldn’t have met the 5-year-post-age-14 residency requirement. Had Obama been born a year later, it wouldn’t have mattered whether that birth took place in Hawaii, Kenya, Indonesia, or anywhere else. (For those born since 1986, by the way, the single citizen parent must have only resided here for five years, at least two of which must be after the age of 14.)

The last election cycle in Missouri, the Democrats "picked" the Senate candidate they wanted to run against, a guy named Todd Akin. About one week after Akin won the primary, he got picked apart on an issue of "legitimate rape". Claire McCaskill then cakewalked into a general election win. I'm curious if there isn't a similar deal going on in this race as well.

Well, I went to Jr. High and High School in Oklahoma, and that's what I was taught as well. So, you can blame him for not keeping up with the science, but he can't be blamed for what he was taught in the government run schools.

That and there could be a legal definition or law of what is considered a legitimate rape. I cannot think of a legitimate reason to rape someone, but there are laws that define where you have legitimate case of rape.
Regardless if you utter legitmate and rape together it wont sit well with most women. As I recall my wife said something to the effect of WTF is wrong with Akin! There is nothing legitimate about rape!

I don't know how long you've lived in Kansas, but I was largely raised in a community of original settlers to the area. "Old wives tales" prevailed. It's not that rape was "legitimate", it's that it happened. Parents (mother's really) didn't want their daughters to die from having an abortion (I had a great aunt that did) plus it was not morally acceptable to have an abortion. So I assume that the fear/adrenaline interruption of pregnancy was posed for miscarriages, that were rather common, and "act of God" was offered as explanations for live births. BTW, such laws, written or not, were still enforced at the end of a rope in my grandmother's day. ;)

I have lived in Kansas since birth. From what I understand from both my mothers (both are from the 4 state area) you didn't talk about that stuff, it stayed within the family and they went to extremes to keep things under wraps.
My bio-Grandmother concoceted a story that my bio-mother had been injured in a water sking accident, went as far as staining her leg with ink to back up the story when she went back to school. My bio-Grandmothers, mother was 15 when she married a 30 year old man.
My mom had a un-wed cousin in Iowa that got pregnant, and when the town folk saw her walking they would move to the opposite side of the street.
The farther back you go, and or the more rural you go the more extreme the stories seem to be....at least extreme in comparison to todays standards.
I received this tacky email this morning begging for money. It brought back images of a tearful Jimmy Swaggert on Sunday morning TV or Mr. Haney on Green Acres.
In summary: "I'm losing and I know it."
I usually give a few bucks at the beginning to a few people and sit back and see what happens. Since giving some to Ted I have been spammed with emails just like that and mailings. If he spent less on his mailing he would have more to spend.
Most know I Hate Politicians but we have to have a government. I am so tired of these flip flopping idiots and the socialist that are running on both sides.

Blaa. I have received close to the same from everyone of them except Trump. I even got a "autographed” photo from Carson. Blazingassclowns that are begging for money. I won't give 'em anything but a vote until I see who it will be in the final.

Watching Cruz during this election cycle has left me with the impression he'd not make a solid President.
He 'wants it' too badly and not in a patriotic way either....and appears to be able to do anything to get there...I don't think honesty or personal honor are very high on his list of attributes.
Fiorina, whom I liked, has disappointed me is playing the desperation game....
Remind me and I'll tell you an interesting Cruz story after the convention.

From what I have seen so far, who ever gets elected president will be the one who has the strongest lock on their skeleton closet.
BUT, remember- Job #1 is to keep Hillary from getting elected. I will vote for whomever the Republicans nominate.
If I was a big wig in the Republican party, I would start organizing a campaign for Bernie Sanders to run as a third party candidate...

The friend who shared this with me used one word - "TRUTH" - to describe the link that led to this picture. Note - She's not normally this negative WRT politics so I'm thinking maybe those of us here expressing skepticism about Mr. Cruz aren't alone amongst the general population.
Peregrino.....that is a good analogy....sad she played along in the Game of Thrones simply because she wanted to be a player.
I think Cruz will be hoist with his own petard with the Kasich gambit...time will tell.
