So, I hear these kinds of things often. I guess it's what makes us "exceptional" or qualifies as low IQ voter!
The latest: While boarding an airplane, a verbal exchange between a typical American woman and an Indian (dot) or West Asian woman who was having trouble collapsing the handle on her carry-on bag before stowing it remarks - "well at least two people have tried and it don't work. Maybe Santa Clause can bring you a new one for Christmas!"
I about fell out of my seat...
What dumbass insensitive, culturally offensive or just plain stupid words have you heard someone say to someone who would be offended?
(Don't get me wrong, I love to offend the easily offended but, I'm also sensitive to cultural insensitivity that borders on stupid.)
Lol, Santa don't discriminate...less o-course you naughty...and not nice !

The government just named a warship the USS Jackson, named after President Jackson, whole lot of folks are upset about that.
Well in the future when they name a warship USS Obama, that will cancel it out and it'll be all good.

My previous favorite was "'the difference between the dot and the turbin? Push button ignition or pull start. "
At least I'll be giggling on my way to hell.:p

Perfect name for a warship, hanging a big brass plaque that reads:
"I was born for the storm, the calm doesn't suit me." President Andrew Jackson.
One of the best quotes ever.

This is just one of the many true stories of my mother. She truly never meant anything bad, she really was an intelligent, educated, degreed and accomplished woman yet somehow remained unbelievably clueless. I never once heard her utter an intentionally unkind thought about a person based on the color of their skin, their ethnicity or religion.
For several years she ran scattered site housing for poor senior citizens in economically challenged urban areas. Many of the residents were of color, as were most of her coworkers. Whenever she talked about her coworkers or her residents, the color of someone's skin was never mentioned as a descriptor. It would be, "Mrs. B who loves cats", or "James, who works in intake". It really was like she was color blind. All my creative, off-color and inappropriate humor comes from my Dad whom we called the equal opportunity racist, because he had a comment for everybody.
She was invited to a wedding vow renewal party for one of her coworkers, and brought me. the hostess suggested she not come alone and told her she would be escorted to her car at the end of the evening.
Not only was the neighborhood all black, there were exactly two other non-black guests at this event of two hundred. Chatting with the other guests at our table, one young man mentioned he was going on vacation.
Mom asked where.
He said, proudly, "The Motherland".
Mom paused, looked confused for a second and said, "Where is that? Mississippi?"
This guy gets an A for effort for trying to be culturally sensitive.... :D

How about inferring that Mexicans are [illegal] "aliens"...

After offering Mexican food during its “Intergalactic” night, Stevenson College at the University of California, Santa Cruz found that some students took offense, calling the action racist because of a perceived link between intergalactic aliens and Mexican illegal immigrants.
Pundit Press, which first reported the incident, reports that the College apologized for its “Mexican food buffet,” as Dr. Carolyn Golz, a College Administrative Officer for Cowell & Stevenson Colleges, stated in a letter to students, “We would never want to make a connection between individuals of Latino heritage or undocumented students and ‘aliens’ and I am so sorry that our College Night appeared to do exactly that.”
Golz added that the incident “demonstrated a cultural insensitivity on the part of the program planners and, though it was an unintentional mistake, I recognize that this incident caused harm within our community and negatively impacted students.” She insisted that that she “will require cultural competence training for Programs staff, in addition to implementing mechanisms for future program planning that will ensure college programs are culturally sensitive and inclusive.” Golz pointed out that she is “an ally for students of color and, in particular, undocumented students … (and) committed to ensuring that student life staff receive the training necessary to make sure that this type of incident does not happen again at Stevenson.”
Golz asserted, “I am working closing (sic) with Donnae Smith, Coordinator for Diversity and Inclusion for Colleges, Housing and Educational Services (CHES) to continue to increase the cultural intelligence (CQ) of our staff,” and concluded by urging students to report “hate” to http://reporthate.ucsc.edu/.
And, Clemson does the same:
Officials at Clemson University have apologized for serving a lot of Mexican food at a couple dining halls because two students found it offensive.
Administrators at the taxpayer-funded public school in South Carolina reacted with a swift and abject apology for serving Mexican food.
Doug Hallenbeck, Clemson’s senior associate vice president of student affairs, explained that the choice to cook and serve food from Mexico “displayed a flattened cultural view of Mexican culture.”
“In the future, University Housing & Dining welcomes the opportunity to work with Hispanic and Latino campus groups as well as community members, staff and faculty to better celebrate the food and culture of this region and better educate the Clemson community,” the letter beginning “Dear Clemson Family” said.
“It is the mission of University Housing & Dining to create supportive and challenging environments that enrich and nourish lives. We failed to live out our mission yesterday,” Hallenbeck’s letter added about the Mexican food.

So no chitlins and collard greens, no tacos on Tuesday, and no more "ethnic food nights" on campus. Boring!
