You know it's a sad day in this country when the French ... Let me say that again ... The FRENCH ... are showing more brains, backbone, guts and BALLS than the current American administration.

Never again will I refer to the French as "Cheese Eating Surrender Monkeys"

Viva la France !!!!!!

French Make MASSIVE Move Against 2,000 Muslims… THIS Is How You Fight Terrorists!

All of the old jokes about the French and their pusillanimity about war — you know, the “cheese eating surrender monkeys” quips — look to be a thing of the past, at least after the Paris terror attacks. Now, French authorities are taking on radical Islam, and they mean business.

A two-week campaign of raids against radical Islamist targets by French counterterrorism forces has yielded 232 arrests and 334 weapons confiscations. According to France Info (via Breitbart), 34 of those weapons were “war-grade.”

All in all, counterterrorism authorities have raided 2,235 homes and buildings in the wake of the Nov. 13 attacks. In addition to the weapons, illegal narcotics were found in 165 locations.

“In 15 days we have seized one-third of the quantity of war-grade weapons that are normally seized in a year,” French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said.

Cazeneuve also said that three mosques had been closed down in the national state of emergency following the attacks. One of the mosques authorities shuttered on Wednesday after authorities discovered a 9mm handgun, a concealed hard drive, a life insurance policy and — most tellingly — documents relating to jihad.

“Operations are being carried out against hate preachers and self-proclaimed imams,” Cazeneuve told reporters, calling the measures necessary because of “Islamist radicalization.”

According to Cazaneuve, this is the first time that France has ever taken these measures against Islam, but they were necessary.

Answering critics who said that the state of national emergency could be lifted, Cazaneuve responded that “state of emergency was needed and is still required,” adding that “it is terrorism that threatens freedom today, not the state of emergency.”

Now, here’s my question: Can you ever see President Barack Obama taking decisive action like this against radical Islam?

Of course not. In fact, the president refused to even call the Paris attacks “Islamic terrorism.” When Obama can’t even identify what we’re fighting against, how can we possibly expect him to act this decisively?

The French are just over reacting and stripping innocent people of their rights...according to this source:

Activists decry mosque closures in France
Shutting down "radical" mosques under emergency rule will not prevent security threats, rights groups and activists say.

Closing mosques in France that authorities say foster extremism will not prevent people from becoming 'radicalised' and could heighten a sense of alienation among the Muslim minority, rights groups and activists have said.

At least three mosques have already been closed under France's extended emergency rule, which allows authorities to shut down places of worship that show a "pattern of radicalisation".

A French Imam, meanwhile, said that between 100 and 160 more mosques are likely to be closed as part of the security campaign.

"Experts have proven that terrorists do not come from organised communities," Samia Hathroubi, a French-Tunisian human rights activist, told Al Jazeera.

She added that there was a disconnect between what French President Francois Hollande says to reassure Muslims that they are not being "singled out", and the reality of raids under emergency law which have "largely targeted mosques and activists from Muslim communities".

"I am worried and really stunned by the decisions taken by the executive power to tackle terrorism," she said.

"I feel we should be very cautious in France with civil rights and our freedoms which are jeopardised by the state of emergency."

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group claimed responsibility for attacks on November 13 in Paris which killed 130 people, raising fears that Muslims would suffer 'retaliatory' violence.

"Of course each and every one of us feels under threat and unsecure," said Hathroubi. "Activists are angry against what we see as an attack against our civil rights and liberties. We knew far too well that we would be the first target of this state of emergency, and we were proven right."

Since November, France has raided 2,235 homes and buildings, taken 232 people into custody and confiscated 334 weapons, 34 of them war grade, Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said on Wednesday.

He added that police had that day closed a suspected radical mosque east of Paris and arrested the owner of a revolver found in related raids as part of the crackdown, while two other mosques closed last week were in Gennevilliers, northwest of Paris, and in the southeastern city of Lyon.

"If you listen to anti-terror judges, they will tell you that radicalisation takes place outside of mosques. It happens in jails or clandestine circles or via the internet," said Yasser Louati of the Collective Against Islamophobia.

"The mosques that have been closed were in operation for several years. Why shut them down today? Radicalisation? We still do not have a clear indication of what that means."

He added that decisions made to close the mosques had been "arbitrary".

"Under the emergency state, the law is suspended so they don’t have to justify themselves," said Louati. "If this [mosque closures] isn't the denial of religious freedom, I don't know what is."

There are between 5.5 million and 6.2 million Muslims in France, roughly 7.6 per cent of total population.

I too will be slow to disparage the French in the future. They are lucky they do not have to answer to our AG, this is just the type of activity that concerns her here in the U.S. We are being led by a bunch of civilian limp dicks at this time.

They should surround each mosque with bell towers and convert them into cathedrals.....

Turn about is fair play. History shows us they have no qualms in doing so themselves. The attached image shows what is currently referred to as Hagia Sophia, Istanbul Turkey.....formerly the Patriarchal Basilica, Constantinople..the largest cathedral in the World. This conflict has been eternal.

Edit: To be accurate it is currently a museum ( since 1935, before that it was a mosque) surrounded by minaret towers however Last year, Erdogan floated the idea of a referendum on the conversion of the historic Byzantine Christian Cathedral of Hagia Sophia. I should add the Christian art work was converted long ago.

I see the internet has been busy manipulating images, the illuminated image *2 and the interior are accurate. ( Standing Orders, Rogers Ranger #4 )
