Latest analysis from the Defcon Warning List (monthly or as needed....)
This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 8 P.M. Tuesday, December 1st, 2015. Condition Green. DEFCON 5. Condition Green. DEFCON 5. Condition Green. DEFCON 5.
There are currently no imminent nuclear threats against the United States at this time.
Turkey's downing of a Russian fighter jet has seemed to move more into diplomatic channels rather than military, with Russia's response being more moderate than expected, likely due to Russia's unwillingness to draw a NATO response. Turkey, however, remains a wild card, acting outside NATO control. It remains to be seen what orders both Russia and Turkey have given their forces, and the DEFCON Warning System believes that we have not heard the last between these two.
The United States is worried that Russian anti-aircraft defenses are catching up to U.S. ability to penetrate said defenses, taking away U.S. air superiority. Russia is also reported to be developing a high speed drone sub capable of being armed with nuclear tipped torpedoes. This sub is designed to take out enemy harbours and cripple fleets. The United States, meanwhile, has updated its war plans for Russia, the first time in years, indicating the level of tensions between the two countries at least on a military level.
China and the United States have entered a new state of tensions over the South China Sea, with the U.S. announcing plans to routinely send ships to the area to challenge China's claim. A report from the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission says that China is making progress with space warfare tech aimed at destroying U.S. satellites while China advances its stealth technology with a new material capable of defeating current U.S. radar ability to detect. China has also announced plans for a military overhaul to make it more combat ready and to be able to project power beyond its borders. The U.S., for it's part, is to move 15% of its Marine Corp personnel to the Pacific to counter China.
North Korea has restarted its Yongbyon plant which produces plutonium for its nuclear weapons. China has announced opposition to further tests or launches by North Korea, indicating a growing rift between the two countries, although it appears that North Korea has engaged in another sub launched ballistic missile test recently which failed. A new treaty between the United States and South Korea opens up the possibility of South Korea processing its own nuclear material, something which is likely to provoke a reaction by the North. South Korea is also to open a new rapid-reaction naval base in January.
The DEFCON Warning System is a private enterprise which monitors world events and assesses nuclear threats against the United States by national entities. It is not affiliated with any government agency and does not represent the alert status of any military branch. The public should make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for any strategic planning. At all times, citizens are urged to learn what steps to take in the event of a nuclear attack.
If this had been an actual attack, the DEFCON Warning System will give radiation readings for areas that are reported to it. Your readings will vary. Official news sources will have radiation readings for your area.
