I read a post on another web site, someone was "guaranteeing" the guy was a poser because he wore a CIB on the pocket flap.

I have seen the CIB under the ribbons many time and think it was either SOP or there was no SOP for it location.

Tried unsuccessfully to fine the AR 600 equivalent circa 1945 to verify.

Anyone have the facts??

You are looknig for AR 600-40.
The 28 AUG 1941 version had updates ranging from 14 AUG 1942 to 14 SEP 1943.

The CIB was established 27 OCT 1943, after the last update.

The 31 MAR 1944 version had updates ranging from 11 AUG 1944 to 31 OCT 1945.

The APR or AUG 1945 update of that one was the first printed guidance that the CIB was to be worn above the ribbons.

Prior to that update, it was common practice (in lieu of specific written guidance) for paratroopers to wear their wings above the ribbons and CIB below.
