Obama administration emails found in Ashley Madison data dump
By Pete Kasperowicz • 8/19/15 12:36 PM
Hundreds of email addresses from the Obama White House and key federal agencies appear to have been uncovered in a leaked list of clients who use Ashley Madison, the website that encourages people to sign up for a chance to cheat on their spouse.
Hackers broke into the cheating website, and late Tuesday, Wired.com reported that information on 32 million users was posted on a "dark" website used by well-known hackers. The data includes much of the personal information of the alleged users, and one link made available breaks the data down into how many clients come from various government websites.
According to that link, thousands of members of the U.S. military appear to be clients of Ashley Madison. But there also appear to be hundreds of users from other key agencies, including the White House.

I'm happily married, but it occurs to me that if you need to use the Internet to get laid you're either lazy or doing it wrong. Go to any bar/restaurant on a Thursday or Friday and you'll find married women looking for some action.

The risk you run doing it this way is, you may run into some of your wife's friends ... or even your wife for that matter.

Awkward for sure but not as awkward as your wife responding to your Ashley Madison profile.

At my age I'm far more likely to be a customer of Dolly than Ashley. ;)
There were some idiots that used their .gov accounts and work numbers for their accounts. What a bunch of buffoons.....

BINGO! This is more about embarrassment than a real security breach. I am MUCH more concerned with the OPM breach than AM.
Gents...we are D+90 from new online curriculum being pushed down on us.
First it was...enforce SHARP
EO
LBGT indoc....er awareness
Next is the "don't fuck someone who isn't your spouse" training.
Guess all of the safety briefs I have given just didn't settle well. :D
On a serious note, I do see this coming and this will be used as political capital here soon by someone to either justify the reduction of troops (somehow they'll spin it) and more oversight into what we do.
Three years can't go by fast enough.
The numbers are interesting and I think there is some level of jackassery with some accounts likely being "hooked up" as a joke. But this just distracts from important shit and makes the collective leadership up high scrutinize those of us in the Sr. NCO ranks / mid-grade officers effectiveness on making sure people are kept honest.
A lot of self selecting going on. Could not have come at a better time. QSP was announced to be conducted quarterly right before this incident. We may hit the desired number of active troops sooner than we thought.

BINGO! This is more about embarrassment than a real security breach. I am MUCH more concerned with the OPM breach than AM.Likewise (but we were probably already screwed by the VA data loss before that). But TR brings up a great point. From the hackers' perspective it was all about the security (or demonstrating lack of) at the website. The ultimate lesson, now that they have the data, is to show how it could be manipulated. In a non-Comedy Zone scenario it could be just as valuable to not simply "abscond" with the data, but to manipulate it for some downstream effects. Kinda beats Matthew Broderick dialing-in to change his English grade...
Could become a whole new 'fantasy' sport - speculating on whose disparaging info might actually be on that website.
If they used a persons real email that individual would be receiving AM info periodically so would be aware of the fraudulent sign up.
There would also have to be credit card info as this isn't a freebie.
For those reasons am not buying into the 'somebody else did it' argument.
You could use anyone's name for sure but the other info would be bogus and provably so.
Farmersonly.com boys...that's the ticket....she can help tote that ruck!
