340 rabbis urge Congress to support Iran nuclear deal
By Kristina Wong - 08/17/15 10:29 AM EDT
Over 300 rabbis sent a letter to Congress on Monday declaring their support for the Iran nuclear deal and urging lawmakers to endorse it.
"We encourage the members of the Senate and the House of Representatives to endorse this agreement," read the Aug. 17 letter signed by 340 rabbis.

The letter was distributed by Ameinu, which describes itself as a "national, multi-generational community of progressive Jews in North America."
Not surprisingly, seems to be a different view on the ground in Israel, even among moderates.

11. The president’s definition of Israel’s security. Obama feels immensely bitter at being perceived by some critics in Israel and the Jewish community, largely but by no means solely because of the Iran issue, as a tremendously problematic president (to put it politely).

Isn't this like Jews putting hitler in power?
I always found this to be a weird dynamic, on one hand you had old Jews like Frau Franke who on occasion would tearfully discuss what happened to her family, or Louie the boiler maker who had numbers tattooed on his arm and had a hatred for Germans, or Morris the Carpet guy that sent money to Isreal to help with the fight and on the other hand you had and have a large numbers of younger Jews who believe that people like Frau Frank, Louie and Morris needed to 'Get over it' and/or 'Get a life'.

I am curious about Jewish people in the United States today. It seems that there are presently two very different groups; (1) Orthodox Jews, or Jews that regularly attend services at the local synagogue, and (2) Jews that are of Jewish heritage, but never attend services, don't study the Torah, feel no attachment to Israel, and who treat being Jewish as more of a cultural, rather than a spiritual or religious, tie.
The Orthodox Jews seem to be much more conservative, both in their social life and in their political preferences. Non-orthodox Jews seem to be just the opposite. If memory serves me correctly, 66% of Jews in the United States voted for Obama in the last election, so if my hypothesis is correct, there are not many orthodox Jews. But, also, I have almost no first-hand knowledge, as Missouri does not have much of a Jewish population.
