It's no wonder our military fails and no plan survives first contact before someone lower in the ranks steps up to find success.

Check out this article from USA TODAY:

Honore: America's in denial about gun culture

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2015/07/27/honore-americas-denial-gun-culture/30764255/

This is remarkable and truly his best statement in regards to what he opined on.

Honore said he doesn't know what steps government should take tighten controls on carrying guns — "I'm not smart enough for that," he said — but he said mass shootings "are scarring our country."

He doesn't see the irony in this -

"The best place for weapons when you're not in the field is to be locked up in the garrison," Honore' said. "Our biggest problem before Desert Storm was (soldiers) accidentally firing their weapons, and they're trained.

They were trained to do what, clean them for the millionth time, put them away under lock and key and an "ARMED" armorer?

What would Gen. Von Steuben, think of the Continental Army going home without their rifles?

And we'll, I guess he forgets to mention that unless it was the Ammo Depot the guards had no bullets -

"I don't think it's a good idea to arm military at the recruitment offices or to have civilians there with guns," Honore said. "That's the job of law enforcement. On our bases, yes, we guard our gates and our bases, but not at the recruitment offices."

Must be nice to live in Command Billets and have MPs on constant patrol...it shades the color of your glasses.

I thought he was the assclown that was in charge of the crap that went down in Katrina. The article confirms it.

If I had had anything to do with Katrina (in a leadership position) I'd still be hiding in my basement drinking cheap scotch and warm beer...somewhere Panama City, and no the one in Florida!

He must have been Mr. Browns, left-hand-man!!!

I sat with him several years ago. He told me that he would never let his people shoot a "poor person" for trashing a jewelery store, liquor store or for stealing from the "rich" An hour later he spoke to a group that was attending an insurance training class. IMO he is the same kind of Liberal as Westley Clark. Nothing he said in the class changed my mind.

I had seen him in NOLA after Katrine, he was leading around an Army of reporters and I was working as an insurance adjuster. The people that lost their inventor to the savages were for the most part middle class.

He may be positioning for a political appointment.

He sounds like a future politician, maybe he and Wes Clark can team up.

That brings up an interesting point, should soldiers shoot looters? That seems like it might be going a bit too far to me. I mean if you are the jewelry store owner and someone is robbing your store, and you shoot them, that's probably a straight ticket to prison. Only if they are threatening your life directly can you shoot them.

Actually, it depends on the state. You can shoot them here in Texas, if it is your store or the store owner asked you to look out for it.

The same guy who, when he was CONUSA CG, mandated immersion training for Soldiers mobilizing & deploying; move with it, live with it - all.the.time.

He & Clark should go off & have a cup of coffee together somewhere; like Shemya, maybe.

Shoot looters?

Not me.

Not becase it's right and that citizens property that is not being taken to save life or limb doesnt deserve better protection, from opportunistic predators, but because it's not worth the risk of being hung out to dry and prosecuted.

Have a nice day and enjoy your new necklace.

With the current state if this country I agree with you. There was a time when lawless savages were not allowed to run wild. It shouldn't have been necessary to send the 82od to NOLA, but between the Mayor, Governor and a poorly run police department I don't have a good answer.

Meanwhile Westley Clark thinks it's time for internment camps. And does the interviewer call him on that great idea? Noooooooooo!

Careful on your posting.

Clive Bundy is not in the same insane group as the Branch Davidians. Had the "Cliven" Bundy situation lasted a bit longer I'd been there with my sniper rifle staring back at the federal snipers and would have been happy to exchange rounds. In my opinion the "federal" Bureau of Land Management needs to be abolished and the states take over control of their own land.

I left off Magenta TS ;) All three situations were examples of an over bearing government agencies looking to justify their existence.

Funny, I don't remember German interment camps, like Manzanita. What a mooseknuckle.

I survived Janet Napolitano and now you wish this on me. Thanks TS but that may be a burden that would drive me into a retirement job in consulting.

The Branch Davidians (except the little kids) got what they deserved. While it evolved into something very stupid, that situation had nothing to do with government overreach.

It evolved into something very stupid....I can agree with that, but they should have been been given their day in a court of law.

In April 1993, David Troy, an ATF executive, testified before the
House Subcommittee on Appropriations, and he said that the raid
was necessary because — and I want to quote him directly from the
Congressional Record — "We never saw him off the compound until after we had an arrest warrant for him."

Now, the ATF conducted surveillance for about 30 days prior to
the raid from a house 200 yards from Mount Carmel's front door.
And as it turned out, on January 17, David Koresh was next door
to the ATF's undercover house in the home of the landlord of that
undercover house

Clinton wanted to make a statement about guns. The Branch Davidians were suspected of having automatic weapons (none were later proven to have existed). What better way to enrage the public and demonstrate his need for more gun control than to stage a big raid for the TV cameras? So you get BATF to go on the raid with a television news crew in tow (which is exactly what BATF did) so that you can capture the whole thing for the American people and make a big news issue out of it against guns. Of course you also have to invent some charges like child molestation (A frequent allegation in .GOV busts) to make it look good.......just to show everybody that they were a bunch of kooks, right?

http://www.quora.com/Why-didnt-authorities-just-apprehend-David-Koresh-while-he-was-making-supply-runs-into-neighboring-towns-rather-than-confronting-him-inside-his-compound

My investigations convince me that David Koresh was guilty of
statutory rape. But I don't understand why two-thirds of the search
warrant is about child abuse and statutory rape when the ATF has
no jurisdiction over those offenses.
