"The Army's Special Forces Underwater Operations School has been slated for a facelift.

The Key West, Florida, facility - run by the Fort Bragg-based John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School - will get several upgrades as part of a larger development plan, according to the Department of Defense.

That will include improving the diving infrastructure, hyperbaric chamber, free-swim and ascent tower..."

The site sure has changed since I first went there in 1975. Where have those 40 years gone?

I would love to find some old pictures of the quonset hut we lived in.

The only one I have Is of the day we were told that there would be no TP and no Flutter Kicks, because it was to hot..

When i was stationed at JIATF-S in 2006 and on, they were great to me and gave the keys to the kingdom. But it was funny listening to the guys who were talking about what a crappy facility it was and how it was falling apart. I laughed and told them The crack houses down the way just prior to the key were what we had "back in the day" and that the current MWR pool was what we did all our pool work in. Made them laugh and brought out a little perspective to it. They have very good facilities there.

Good guys and they run a world-class operation.
