Holy shit, if I had a 15 year old boy and the state gave him a sex change operation without my consent there would be a whole lot of dead and dying Health Evidence Review Commission personnel. Same goes for implanting my 11 year old with an IUD without my consent.
Funny how this liberal fascism is extended to the sexual exploits of "children".

The list of things 15-year-olds are not legally allowed to do in Oregon is long: Drive, smoke, donate blood, get a tattoo -- even go to a tanning bed.
But, under a first-in-the-nation policy quietly enacted in January that many parents are only now finding out about, 15-year-olds are now allowed to get a sex-change operation. Many residents are stunned to learn they can do it without parental notification -- and the state will even pay for it through its Medicaid program, the Oregon Health Plan.
"It is trespassing on the hearts, the minds, the bodies of our children," said Lori Porter of Parents' Rights in Education. "They're our children. And for a decision, a life-altering decision like that to be done unbeknownst to a parent or guardian, it's mindboggling."
In a statement, Oregon Health Authority spokeswoman Susan Wickstrom explained it this way: "Age of medical consent varies by state. Oregon law -- which applies to both Medicaid and non-Medicaid Oregonians -- states that the age of medical consent is 15."
While 15 is the medical age of consent in the state, the decision to cover sex-change operations specifically was made by the Health Evidence Review Commission (HERC).
Members are appointed by the governor and paid by the state of Oregon. With no public debate, HERC changed its policy to include cross-sex hormone therapy, puberty-suppressing drugs and gender-reassignment surgery as covered treatments for people with gender dysphoria, formally known as gender identity disorder.
HERC officials refused repeated requests by Fox News for an interview and even gave Fox News inaccurate information about the medical director's work schedule.
Oregon Health Authority officials directed Fox News to their website. It shows transgender policy was discussed at four meetings in 2014. It was passed without any opposition or even discussion about teenagers' new access to undergoing a sex change.

Schools Offer IUDs to 11-Year-Old Girls Without Parental Consent
Seattle public high schools and middle schools are now providing an invasive form of birth control to girls, starting at age 11.
Thirteen schools are participating in the state-administered program, which allows sixth-graders access to long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs) without parental consent.
Girls can have an intrauterine device (IUD) implanted while they're at school at no cost.
A spokeswoman for Washington's "Take Charge" program said, "...a young person does not need parental consent to obtain a LARC or any other contraceptive method. ... If the young person is not choosing abstinence, she would be able to select a LARC and have it inserted without parental consent."
Critics point out that public school students in Seattle are not allowed to buy a soda or a candy bar at school, but are now allowed access to contraceptives.

What's next "pre-assign" homosexuals, transgenders etc. at/before conception? Enforce a quota of lesbian, homosexuals, transgenders per one hundred heterosexuals? Kill off heterosexual babies if they exceed the quotas? Are race quotas next?
Keep allowing the "government" the power to re-assign gender and you're looking at a revolution in the making.
Oregon and Washington is where communism lives and breathes.
Next it will be race reassignment/quota's.

The reality is, young adults do not complete development of their decision making ability until as late as 25 years old.
The "18 years old" decision ability mark is arbitrary and mostly came about as a second order result of legal, political, or economic decisions made over decades not through wisdom, or scientific consensus.
The fact that ANY law takes away a parents right to make a decision for their child amazes me, and I have yet to see a legal argument that justifies it beyond the rarest and most extreme circumstances.
I'm not a constitutional expert, but I imagine that the only reason parental rights weren't made a part of the Bill of Rights, is because our Founding Fathers couldn't even imagine a process by which the rights of parents would be stripped away. Shouldn't a parents right to protect their legacy be afforded the same protection as private property. Surely our children are our greatest investment, beyond property or even career.
I've said it here before, the issue I have with the liberal world view and its general love of all things big government, is it's addiction to the Navana Fallacy of confusing progress with perfection, and an almost strange lack of understanding, that the natural free flowing order of things, such as we see in the principal of capitalism and the free market, time and time again creates a far more productive systems and in turn outcomes, (such as the family unit and its mechanism of familial love) than any "organized" system we could ever dream up.

Family is at the very, and yes I'll say it again, VERY core of the ongoing success of our nation, yet we erode it with what seems to be little thought. How is it we allow ourselves to be surrounded by men of decision, who with such intelligence can so easily act the Greater Fool.

I think y'all need to adjust your expectations. After all this is the only state I have ever driven in where I have been threatened with a ticket and arrest for pumping my own gas at a service station. That made me rent a backhoe and dig a hole for my Oregonian expectations.:D
I for one am getting pretty close to falling back to the high ground and defending.
Seems like every time you turn around, another ridiculous policy after another.......none of which are based on the values and beliefs that once made this nation great. The ideology that if we just "allow people to do whatever they want" in order to acheive a state of euphoria is false. All it does is piss off people in which that are not effected by it as they feel disenfranchised by the state or federal government.
Personally, I can do without the west coast and the northeast. But it sure seems like every time you turn around, the policies and ideologies that are common place in those areas are slowly making their way into the rest of the country.
Sad state of affairs when your state allows minors to undergo a major surgical procedure without parental consent, all at the expense of the taxpayer.

Oregon used to be full of hard working resource providers like farmers, ranchers, ship builders, welders, fabricators and the Timber industry but we worked too hard and funded our own takeover.
Now those that we funded are shutting down where the money came from.
