If I;m not mistaken the Mall is posted as a no carry site.

Pete,

You are correct, the entrances to the mall portions are posted no firearms... However if you enter a store, and then get into the mall through the store entrance you are G2G.

Glad this was posted, now I need to train to shoot bad guys wearing body armor. A good wake up call to all I suppose.

In my experience open carry people are a little off and attention seeking. I get their point, support their point and their right to do so but, in my estimation, they are odd. In fact, the law should not distinguish between open and concealed carry; both should be legal without permits. The guy wearing body armor changes the "flavor" of this situation slightly. Not sure if he committed a crime or not maybe trespassing...... or if he had something more nefarious in mind.

If he is charged with trespassing he will no doubt get his photo shoot.

I think you are wrong and the policy applies to the entire property IAW the management company's policy posted on their web-site.

"This shopping center is private property and no rights shall accrue to the public by virtue of the public’s entry into this mall or on mall property."

"20.Carrying or displaying weapons of any kind except those carried by certified law enforcement officers in the performance of their duties."

But legally if it's not posted on each entrance it's a gray area. Never seen the code of conduct displayed inside the mall itself and many people don't have internet.

By law it has to be posted at all entry points to an establishment in clear view and legeable to the public. If an anchor store does not have it posted on their street entrance and you enter there then the mall has to have it posted where the public enters their facility from the anchor store.

If that is the situation he better get a good lawyer to exploit that failure.

I too have found the majority of the Open carry people to be pushing their agenda in ways that make them look like cooks. I carry every day and never get challenged as to my status.

 OMG! Not cooks! :D

Around here, most of the OC guys wear cowboy guns in tooled holsters. I think that's fine and not really a statement of an agenda.

Talk about a set of "FVCKED UP" firearms laws ....

... and I thought Colorado was getting bad. You folks out there in NC surely are hamstrung, in several areas where privately owned firearms is concerned.

He called ahead. He got the okay from Macy's (where his photos were being done, I think). He had the firing pin in his front pocket. He was in an open carry state and he has a valid CCP.

There is no doubt he is overzealous for wanting these type of photos. Never in a million years would I want them.

Other than that, what did he do wrong?

Could or should he have put his firearms in a discrete bag? I would have but, again, I wouldn't want these type of photos.

In the end, if I'm a defense lawyer, I would have a field day with this case.

Just my $0.02.
