I have friends and 3 former students who are LEOs on DPD.

I'd wager this one gets the anti-2A crowd stirred up while the tinfoilers will claim it's a conspiracy by the government to declare martial law and confiscate their weapons.

Multiple gunmen toting automatic weapons opened fire on officers outside Dallas Police headquarters early Saturday morning, before one man fled the scene being chased by police in what witnesses described as an armored van, according to Dallas Police Chief David Brown.

Police said conflicting witness accounts made it difficult to immediately determine how many shooters were involved and authorities were trying to determine a motive. No injuries were reported.

Brown said during a news conference that the shootout began about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, when the suspects parked in front of the building located south of downtown and began firing. He said at least one of the suspects fled the scene in a van that rammed a police cruiser before leading police on a chase that ended in an ongoing standoff at parking lot in the nearby suburb of Hutchins, where additional gunfire was exchanged.

Brown said the suspect driving the van has told officers that he blames police for losing custody of his son and "accusing him of being a terrorist." The gunman also said he had explosives in the van, which appeared to be outfitted with gun ports in the sides.

Brown said negotiations with that suspect and the SWAT unit are ongoing.

Brown said, based on witness accounts, as many as four suspects may have been involved in the original shooting, including some who may have been strategically positioned at elevated positions. Police could not immediately confirm how many shooters were involved and where any additional suspects may be located.

Meanwhile, police said they also found two explosive devices near police headquarters, but all suspected packages have been cleared. Nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution

I fear incidences like this will be more "popular" as the summer heats up.

Copy-cat, one-up-menship, and I hate PIGS crime will stir up the mental midgets of the world..

In Texas there is also the boarder problem with the drug cartels.

Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope they are all failures in their nefarious endeavors..

Early reports are often wrong.

Let's see how this shakes out once the initial media frenzy (who wouldn't know an automatic weapon if they fired it) is over.

So far, it seems to be one guy with a semi and some alleged pipe bombs.

Looks like the idiot is dead. Attack a police station in the United States, bad idea. Attack a police station in Texas, worse.

Bad guys always seem to forget that gun ports work both ways...

The deceased was clearly a complete idiot. It won't be pretty if the day comes when a well trained fellow figures he has nothing to lose.

Seems he was unhappy with his divorce custody situation. Seems an entire thread could be started regarding how most State's divorce and custody laws are clearly in favor of the mother and not father.

CNN anchor Fredricka was speaking to CNN legal analyst Philip Holloway when she said this:

“It was very courageous and brave, if not crazy as well, to open fire on the police headquarters, and now you have this scene, this standoff. So you believe these are the hallmarks of more than one person’s involvement.”

If that was courageous and brave I would hate to see how she defines plain old heroic. Another talking head that needs a frontal lobotomy.

One man's terrorist is another man's (er woman's) freedom fighter.

Now, maybe Fredricka and CNN would like to explain to the rest of us how much she despises the American police. I mean hell according to anyone of them it's the police who are terrorizing the nation right now. Why I'm sure a bad cop somewhere must have shot and killed an innocent person today somewhere...
