Syrian rebels recently have been seen using WWII era German weaponry to include 105mm howitzers and STG44 assault rifles.

Well the Germans did produce some pretty good weapons...

The artillery piece is actually a 10.5cm leFH 18/40.

The report says that the cannon could have been captured from a museum,
but where would you find the ammunition?

;)

Also, France received a lot of German war booty to supplement their mainly American weapons in the late 1940s, and may have shipped some of that off to depots in then-French Syria. So there may still be stockpiles of German arms and accessories in various places in Syria, albeit in varying condition.

Syria bought most of the surplus STG-44's. They have been sitting in warehouses for years because of lack of ammo.

Maybe that's why ammo is so scarce in the US, it's because the CIA has got the ammo companies making STG-44 ammo!

Jade Helm cross-thread points and my Alcoa stock climbs another few points!

Currently, 7.92X33 is manufactured in Serbia and available in the U.S.
