I have a pic at my business that's interesting. The lady's brother is in the pic in the distant background it has the Enola Gay. You can zoom in and see the wording on the side of the AC.
He and others had just loaded up the bomb but they had no idea what it was at the time. Her brother has since passed.
That sounds like an incredible picture.
Great history, especially the OP title and writing on the device...

Fascinating. Looking at their shapes The Fat Man worked by imploding from the outside in and the Little Boy worked by material being fired from one end to the other, something like a gun barrel. I've always wondered why we used two different types but I guess it was just for experiment.
WWII was bankrupting the American government so maybe it was all the better that we dropped them.
If there hadn't have been an attack on Pearl Harbor...
