View Full Version : MLB 2015
Well here it is, opening day of the 2015 MLB season and my cubbies have already lost their home opener to the dreaded Cardinals ....
Let me avoid the rush and say .... Next year will be our year. :(

I'm right there with you SDiver. The Phillies are likely to break 100 games this year (losses that is). :(

I have a decent collection of baseball cards from the late 80's through 90's. Many Ryne Sandberg, Mark Grace, Andre Dawson and a host of other Cubs, even Maddux before they sent him to Atlanta. I wouldn't call myself a Cubs fan, but I followed them. Lots of good memories of Harry Caray calling the games, too.
Maybe y'all will end the drought.

I would love to say my Royals will win it all, but, they sort of got lucky last year. Also, if San francisco has the same pitching rotation, I'm not sure who can beat them.
Here's the only known photo of the parade for the Cubbies after they won their last W.S. :(

I wonder if Steve Bartman's great-grandfather was there. Probably not since the Cubs won.

I have two words for MLB since they went all TSA. The second word is "you'.
I must say, the "W" flag has been flying an awfully lot lately, up on the Northside.

Oh snap!
Still dont see the Cubs winning it all. :D
After "tickling" with it all season, Jake Arrieta finally throws a No-Hitter against the Dodgers.

I'm sure, #14 is looking down on Wrigleyville, and smiling that BIG smile he was most famous for.

Still dont see the Cubs winning it all. :DAppreciate your candor. If they don't, this house will do what it always does. Root for the Cards, since they play BASEBALL (not that other thing with 10 guys on a lineup).
Meanwhile, there's tomorrow night...
:D
Should be a great game tonight and a fun series to follow, no matter which team wins the wild card. ;)
Meet me in St. Louis !!!!

Yup! :D Another Arrieta clinic tonight for the most part.
Always good to see everyone else pull as they have been when the opposition is target-fixated on Bryant & Rizzo. That won't happen in STL though... them Cards are pretty savvy.
Meanwhile, everyone at Wrigleyville is packin' ;)
Congrats on the WC win. Looking forward to this series now. :lifter
Kick ass game tonight.
Welcome to the NLDS, small bears. ;)

Kick ass game tonight.
Welcome to the NLDS, small bears. ;)Yeah, mostly a good game to watch (for a Cardinal fan). We're used to that "all roads have to go thru STL" thing. :p
Has Matheny historically moved his players among positions like tonight? Maddon does that all the time with the Cubs but some managers don't seem to get the results out of that like these two gentlemen do.
And in the no excuses department, it was still some of the worst calling behind the plate that I've seen in a very long time. No World Series crew for that yokel; thank goodness they rotate.

Yeah, Matheny has to move them around a lot because of all the injuries and so many rookies playing out of position.
The strike zone was wide but it was wide for everybody. Lester made a bunch of throws off the plate that were called too. I have no issue if it's going both ways like that.

True it was wide for everyone; guess I just like a strike zone to be what it's supposed to. Possibly part of it is that Cubs players this year have had very keen eyes at the plate so that's a piece of their game that gets sidelined. I will give Lackey credit though; that guy can pitch, he was solid.

And it's on to Wrigley folks! :D
Major meltdown by the Cards.
Cubs played a great game. Nice win for them. Next two should be fun to watch.
Well, that's 1 of 2 we need to win in St. Louis.
Yes, the next two games should be fun to watch.

It's exciting to watch the Cubs play at this level, against a premier team that never quits, and is always a threat at any moment.

Next, hope the Dodgers can come back against the Mets, who should NEVER be allowed to step into the Friendly Confines.
This has been, and still is, something special. :D
Congrats to Cardinals fans for a team that did phenomenal things without some key players that were up & down injury-wise this year, and thanks for bringing your A-game, as usual.
Congrats to the Cubs. They were the better team and they deserve this win.
Tons of phenomenal young talent on that team. With a little more pitching they would be almost unbeatable.

We'll see; the true baseball championship is coming up.

Tough one last night for the Cubs with (Lack-)Lester on the mound (been pitching like he's scared). Maybe they can even it up tonight with Arrieta on the mound.
Go Cubs!

Arrieta & the Cubs not up to par at all. And the Mets are where they are for a reason & took advantage as a sharp club will do. On to Wrigley for (hopefully) 3 games. Argghhh.
I do ... I REALLY DO !!!!
I can't give up hope .... :(

I do ... I REALLY DO !!!!
I can't give up hope .... :(I'm not either & I've been at this many decades. But the Cubs have to do it themselves. They beat some teams to get there that had led them all year; they need to get back to what got them there & quit playing like star-struck kids. This is not Rangerette school; their peer review is being conducted by the gd NY Mets.

Congratulations to the Mets. They played an awful lot of fine baseball, all the way around. I don't think anyone expected the Cubs to come as far as they've come the first year of a major rebuilding, new manager and a bunch of kids; nothing to hang their head for.
But holy shit do the Mets have some pitching.
Helluva series. Now I understand the Mets will head on over for awhile and play some ball against that retirement league. Good luck to them; I've got some deer trails to check on.
And oh yeah...
Fuck.
