If I did my math right that's over 200 pounds.

Seems like it would be kind of hard trying to cash in or circulate that much gold. Bet they get caught. :D ;)

I say someone inside knew the score.

I hate to use the word "coincidental", but something just doesn't seem right.

Maybe it's just my naturally skeptical self.

Other than that, they better have a dealer that deals in gold or else they need to get to work on changing that gold to something useful.

Inside job.

You melt the gold and recast it, who can say what its origin was?

They will look for the first associated person to display signs of unexplained wealth and will use him to roll up the others.

You are so wrong. HSI hit a target and recovered about $36 million in gold a few years back. The network had it in two houses in Tampa and Orlando and a house in Las Vegas.

There is no law or reporting requirements for "scrap" precious metals, only if they are minted coinage and over $10K.

The dark underside of that type of seizure HSI is capable of, has mutated into a funding program for law enforcement. This article relates how John Q public is rolled-up on a daily basis in stop and seize patrolling on Interstate Hwy.

Thank you for enlightening me. ;)

Wow! NC, night op, requiring, coordination, planning, specialized knowledge, maybe a rehearsal among a small group using surprise, speed and being quite lucky where the armored car broke down. Did I mention that indicators are the group may have worked together or, in similar stressful situations in the past. The problem being compounded by having so few folks along the I-95 cooridor that had a resume' with those particular skill sets. :lifter
