Marie Harf, you're an idiot and individuals like you are the very reason we will not defeat ISIS.
Women like Marie Harf makes me feel sad for the female gender....
State Department on Islamic State: We can’t win ‘by killing them’ — need to get them jobs
By Cheryl K. Chumley - The Washington Times - Tuesday, February 17, 2015
Marie Harf, a spokeswoman for the U.S. State Department, said America can’t win against the Islamic State “by killing them” and ought instead to focus on addressing what she claimed was the root problem — their poor economy — and help them get jobs.
“We’re killing a lot of them, and we’re going to keep killing more of them,” she said during a televised segment on “Hardball” with Chris Matthews. “So are the Egyptians, so are the Jordanians. They’re in this fight with us. But we cannot win this war by killing them. We cannot kill our way out of this war. We need in the medium to longer term to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups, whether it’s a lack of opportunity for jobs, whether …”
Mr. Matthews then cut her off and said: “We’re not going to be able to stop that in our lifetime or 50 lifetimes. There’s always going to be poor people. There’s always going to be poor Muslims, and as long as there are poor Muslims, the trumpet’s blowing and they’ll join. We can’t stop that, can we?”
Ms. Harf dug in and insisted improving the economic opportunities for the terrorist group is the key to turning back their terror, The Right Scoop reported.
“We can work with countries around the world to help improve their governance,” she said. “We can help them build their economies so they can have job opportunities for these people.”

Why we cannot defeat ISIS, just ask the Teleprompter Reader of the United States, (a sunni muslim himself).
Now give the word to the US military to destroy ISIS and anyone who supports ISIS.
Take the gloves off the US military and let them do what they do best.
Move the airbases out of Saudi, Pakistan and Turkey and send them a clear message. Any support of ISIS will result in bombing of your government.

Exactly why ISIS et al is not called radical Islam, why WE will not be engaging ISIS in any relevant way, and why there is denial that radical Islam is not spreading, etc. etc.
As for the "folks" at Foggy bottom...well .. when your head is that far up your ass ..

She's like one of those idiot liberals that pushed the meme of the American soldier in Vietnam as being predominantly poor, uneducated and a minority, when in reality the service reflected society at large. There are plenty of educated and well of idiots in the ranks of ISIS and/or AQ. It's just that it's easier to push your big government based one size fits all solution on to people if you can generalize away reality. ISIS is not driven by poverty.
TS
I was in a good mood until I read this. Now I am pissed off..!!!!!!!
God I have the liberal tree hugging idiots like her. Let's pick her up and drop her off over there and see how many take her up other job offers.....
They (ISIS) have a job, killing all who are not exactly like them.

And it's a big job murdering 4.5 billion non-islamic folks....

If Chris Matthews is calling out these idiots - I shudder to think how far off the tracks this train really is...
Nekid ! Nekid, I say !!!
"...again, I refer you to the clothing czar..."
After all...they couldn't be doing it because that is what they choose to do.
Let's take personal responsibility out of the picture...after all, they couldn't choose to be doing something different with their lives. They are simply poor kids with no other choices.
This is the bunch that can't stop the violence in Chicago, they do not have a clue.
IIRC, we had a $25 million dollar reward out for OBL...
...pretty good paycheck with NO takers...
This administration has no clue, is right.
they have jobs...
...jobs guarding hostages
...jobs driving bulldozers
...jobs writing propaganda
...jobs setting people on fire
what she means is "HOW CAN THE LIBERALS GET ISIS A VOTER REGISTRATION CARD"
ISIS...burnings and beheadings...
"...doin' the jobs Americans won't do..."
Marie Harfe
Right now, somewhere out there, there is a tree struggling to make oxygen for this .... person.
I think she owes it an apology.

Maybe they should be employed as butchers because that's about all they are good at.
"There I was beheading captive Kafr's and my Community College acceptance notice came in....now I'm a Walmart Manager...thank you USA!"
...I'm curious to see how loudly "they" beg for help when they get what they are asking for
The military is a nuisance until shit goes wrong. Then everyone wants to pull out the "support the troops magnet"
For the record...
...fuck your magnet

State Department spokeswoman: Call for using jobs to combat terror ‘too nuanced’ for critics
Published February 18, 2015
·FoxNews.com
State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf, after coming under fire for suggesting a way to fight the Islamic State and all terrorism is by creating jobs, has an answer for her critics: Her argument is just "too nuanced" for them to understand.
Harf, in TV interviews Tuesday night, stood by her original remarks and said she was speaking about a comprehensive approach to combating "extremism."
Harf said that means airstrikes in the short-term, and going after "root causes" like poor economic conditions in the long-term.
"Longer term, we cannot kill every terrorist around the world, nor should we try," Harf said on CNN. "How do you get at the root causes of this? Look, it might be too nuanced an argument for some, like I've seen over the past 24 hours some of the commentary out there, but it's really the smart way that Democrats, Republicans, military commanders, our partners in the Arab world think we need to combat this."
Harf went on to say the approach doesn't fit "into a sound bite," when asked to respond to the intense criticism, on social media and elsewhere, of her original remarks.
On Tuesday, Rob O'Neill, former Navy SEAL Team 6 member, told Fox News a "military strategy" is what's needed to fight ISIS.
"They get paid to cut off heads -- to crucify children, to sell slaves and to cut off heads and I don't think that a change in career path is what's going to stop them," he said.
O'Neill, who claims to have fired the shot that killed Usama bin Laden, warned that the problem is spreading.
"We can't let it happen," he said. "It'll go to Saudi Arabia, it'll hit Jordan."
Harf first pointed to jobs as a counter-ISIS strategy during an interview Monday night on MSNBC -- after ISIS-aligned militants slaughtered 21 Coptic Christians in Libya.
"We're killing a lot of them, and we're going to keep killing more of them. ... But we cannot win this war by killing them," Harf said on MSNBC's "Hardball." "We need ... to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups, whether it's lack of opportunity for jobs, whether --"
At that point, Harf was interrupted by host Chris Matthews, who pointed out, "There's always going to be poor people. There's always going to be poor Muslims."
Harf continued to argue that the U.S. should work with other countries to "help improve their governance" and "help them build their economies so they can have job opportunities for these people."
She said: "If we can help countries work at the root causes of this -- what makes these 17-year-old kids pick up an AK-47 instead of trying to start a business?"
Harf stood by the remarks Tuesday night on CNN, and on MSNBC. CNN host Wolf Blitzer challenged her statements, asking if she thinks these young men might not turn to terror if they just had a job.

Any scholar in terrorism and counterterrorism would readily show her the unproven linkage between poverty and terrorism. Yes, yes, unproven is not disproven, but to cling so vehemently against all opposing facts  I hope she's well compensated and it's worth it
In all fairness, come on now, that's how she earns her pay, by sticking to the party line. It's a tough job in the face of all the merciless twitter comments. She has to put food on the table like the rest of us...OTOH, it's still a free country. She could have followed Jay Carney footsteps.

Marie E. Harf is a Media Spokesperson for the Central Intelligence Agency, a position she has held since June 2008. Ms. Harf is part of the small team that develops the Agency’s media strategy and responds to queries from reporters on a wide range of national security and intelligence topics. She staffs senior Agency officials at public appearances, helps prepare them for press interviews, and organizes CIA-hosted media events.
Ms. Harf began her career at the CIA in the Directorate of Intelligence, where she was an analyst on Middle East leadership issues from March 2006 until June 2008. In this role, she produced finished intelligence products -- including for the President’s Daily Brief -- on top foreign policy priorities, providing both insight and context while identifying risks and opportunities for the United States. She also authored in-depth assessments of foreign leaders, which were shared with U.S. officials before bilateral and multilateral meetings.
Ms. Harf received her Master’s Degree in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia, where her thesis dealt with regime stability in Saudi Arabia. She graduated with honors from Indiana University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with concentrations in Russian and Eastern European Studies and Jewish Studies.
Actually she has got to be very smart to have accomplished all the above. The thought of the same lady making the jobs comment serving in those positions is horrifying. Then again, 2 years stint in the DI is very short. IMHOO, the poor lady got stuck with the party line despite knowing better....but then her pride got the best of her

Frostfire, there is little doubt that Ms. Harf is parroting the Obama party line.
However, when a "smart" person like Harf takes the job as one of the Obama administration's spokespersons - she must know the type of disinformation she will likely be required to float out there - and the criticism that goes along with spouting BS.
She is an adult and as you point out - a reasonably well educated and experienced adult - and thus she has willingly become part of the problem.
Don't confuse education with being "smart". She is highly educated but dumb as a stump.
