Just in,,
Congratulations to Col Allen West
Jeb Bush, I think you need re-think your platform?

It's still to early to set the Vagas book,
but you need to keep informed of what others think..

Who should be the GOP candidate in 2016? Here are YOUR answers.. by Stu, Friday, Feb 6, 2015 at 11:19 AM EST

It’s like ESPN college football coverage of the GOP Top 25 based on your voting. Glenn has moved up the release of our poll results up to… well… now. We’re talking about this on the air, and we’ll be updating as we go right here.

You get the very first info before anyone else, right here. The best score possible, all A+ votes, would give you a score of 100. The worst score possible, all F votes, would give you a 55. Just like Jeffy back in middle school (he didn’t get to high school.)

Bubbling under the Top 25, in dead last place:
28th. Lindsey Graham (avg score) 60.33 (avg letter grade) D-
27th. Jeb Bush 61.94 D-
26th. Governor Chris Christie 62.96 D-
25th Jon Huntsman 67.47 D
24th. Mike Huckabee 68.26 D+
23rd. Donald Trump 68.33 D+
22nd Haley Barbour 68.42 D+
21st. Senator Rob Portman 71.10 C-
20th. Senator Kelly Ayotte 71.71 C-
19th. John Thune 71.86 C-
18th. Mitt Romney 71.97 C-
17th. Susana Martinez 73.77 C
16th. Carly Fiorina 74.09 C
15th. Mike Pence 74.69 C
14th. John R. Kasich 75.13 C
13th. John Bolton 77.50 C+
12th. Rick Santorum 77.55 C+
11th. Paul Ryan 78.06 C+
10th. Nikki Haley 78.19 C+
9th. Sarah Palin 80.13 B-
8th. Marco Rubio 81.61 B-
7th. Rick Perry 82.25 B-
6th. Bobby Jindal 85.12 B

Top 5 contenders,, at this time.. :D

5th. Rand Paul 85.73 B
4th. Allen West 87.55 B+
3rd. Dr. Ben Carson 88.99 B+
2nd. Scott Walker 92.02 A-
1st Ted Cruz 92.47 A-

Dr. Carson on the 2nd Amendment:

(From 2013 interview)

[Glen]BECK: Do I have the right to own a semiautomatic weapon?

[Dr.] CARSON: It depsnds on where you live. I think if you live in the midst of a lot of people, and I’m afraid that that semi-automatic weapon is going to fall into the hands of a crazy person, I would rather you not have it.

Link with video: http://danaloeschradio.com/why-i-dont-support-ben-carson-for-president

Dr. Ben Carson joined me on air today to discuss ebola in the United States and the Second Amendment. I asked him about this remark from 2013 about ownership of semiautomatic firearms. His response:

"What I expressed there was perhaps a little inartful. What I was trying to get across is that we need to talk about how do we keep dangerous weapons out fo the hands of people who are crazy, of people and people who are horrendous criminals. That was the point, it was inartfully said. In terms of the Second Amendment, absolutely, in no way we should compromise that."

Carson said he opposes a gun registry but supports smart gun technology:

"It doesn't mean that we can't still use our intellect to see if we can figure out some ways to figure out how to keep guns out of the hands of people who are mentally ill. It doesn't mean that we can't look at some safety mechanisms things that can be installed, maybe something that is sensitive to your fingerprint, what have you ... What I'm talking about in terms of technology is a smart gun that locks or unlocks with a code, so that your five year-old doesn't wind up killing somebody with it. it would have nothing to do with any kind of national registry."

Link with audio: http://danaloeschradio.com/dr.-ben-carson-calls-earlier-remark-on-2a-inartful-supports-smart-gun-techn

Joesph Steinberg lists the technical problems of smart gun tech:

Electronic devices require a power source, and smart guns are no exception. Without electricity they cannot be fired. Someone intent on using a firearm for home defense could find herself in serious danger if she drew a weapon on an armed intruder only to find that its batteries are drained. In general, it is not ideal to add a requirement for power to devices utilized in cases of emergency that did not need electricity previously. How many fire codes allow fire extinguishers that require a battery to operate? Before smartguns can be deemed reliable, therefore, they must incorporate countermeasures to address this issue. Simply warning users of low batteries may be insufficient, as many gun owners who do not carry their weapons with them keep their guns locked up, do not check them regularly, and might not see such warnings until it is too late.

Computers malfunction, and authentication technology is not perfect. Lawfully armed citizens protecting themselves and/or their families could be killed if their weapons malfunction during a home invasion or attempted rape.

[...]

Some upcoming smartgun models use biometrics to authenticate users, but biometrics take time to process and are often inaccurate – especially when a user is under duress – as is likely going to be the case in any situation in which he needs to brandish a gun.

[...]

As I described in another previous article, smartguns may be susceptible to government tracking or jamming. How hard would it be for the government to require manufacturers to surreptitiously include in computer-enhanced weapons some circuitry that would allow law enforcement to track – or even to disable – the weapons?

Smart gun tech is unsupported by the market. Period.

The last TV/Actor that was elected spent some time in the Gov's office in Minnesota,, James George Janos,, not a good ending..

...With respect

He does have a great opinion on work ethic, and a seemingly middle of the road opinion on societal matters.

I do agree that he may not be good presidential material however, when I see his response to things like minimum wage (here (https://www.facebook.com/TheRealMikeRowe/posts/938382126171931:0)) and the fergason debacle ( here (http://www.theblaze.com/blog/2014/12/22/mike-rowes-response-to-a-fans-question-about-race-and-the-police-resisting-arrest-is-not-right-its-a-crime/)), it makes me wonder what this country would look like if our leaders took his stance.

Mike on Brown/Police Killings:
Later, on the drive home, I called a friend of mine back in Baltimore. He’s black, successful, and hard-working. He also resents the way he’s gotten swept into the zeitgeist of Ferguson. In his words, “I’m a pawn in someone else’s agenda, and I’m sick of it. I know what bias looks like in my life. I’m tired of being represented by two petty criminals who died resisting arrest.” I hadn’t thought about it like that, but he’s got a point. The vast majority of black Americans have never broken the law. And yet, millions of lives are now entwined with the death of Brown and Garner. That’s not fair, but it’s hardly breaking news. Minorities are constantly stereotyped and the impression lingers. Looters and arsonists run amok, and Black America suffers the association. Now I’m trying to get my head around the fact that two cops are dead in Brooklyn, assassinated by a lunatic in “retaliation” for Ferguson and Staten Island. Unbelievable.

How much worse can it get for the millions of law-abiding minorities, struggling to be seen as individuals? How much worse can it get for the thousands of honest cops, trying to protect a citizenry that doesn’t seem to appreciate their daily sacrifice?

Mike on minimum wage:
While I’m sympathetic to employees who want to be paid fairly, I prefer to help on an individual basis. I’m also skeptical that a modest pay increase will make an unskilled worker less reliant upon an employer whom they affirmatively resent. I explained this to Jobs With Justice in an open letter, and invited anyone who felt mistreated to explore the many training opportunities and scholarships available through mikeroweWORKS. I further explained that I couldn’t couldn’t join them in their fight against “bad jobs,” because frankly, I don’t believe there is such a thing. My exact words were, “Some jobs pay better, some jobs smell better, and some jobs have no business being treated like careers. But work is never the enemy, regardless of the wage. Because somewhere between the job and the paycheck, there’s still a thing called opportunity, and that’s what people need to pursue.”

Mikes words (IMO) are exactly what the lost generation stumbling around looking for direction right now need to hear, and assimilate. They like him, and his words at least get through their multitudinous filters ie...(he's not a racist, he's not a homophobe, etc etc). They throw Dr. Carson into the box labeled "Uncle Tom/ House N****s". Col West is part of the military industrial complex and therefore can't be trusted. Rand Paul does have a decent following with today's 20 - 30 somethings but he is a politician, and just like all the rest of the politicians he has flip-flopped on one issue or another which brings his credibility into question.

While my vote will be for Dr. Carson (if he makes it that far), I think America would do good to listen to and digest Mike Rowe's thoughts.

Scott Walker deserves a closer look. I liked the way he bitch slapped the unions in WI. The last time I saw that was with President Reagan when he fired all the Air Traffic Controllers (thought they were to big to fail). Walker and his family were threatened by the unions and he stood up to them.: :lifter

I need to see and hear more from him but from what l have seen so far with this and his budget control he's at the top of my list so far.:munchin

I need to see and hear more from him but from what l have seen so far with this and his budget control he's at the top of my list so far.:munchinIt's interesting up here to watch the local media factions (depending upon what constituency they bend over for) cover his actions with different terms. To be fair, the big Milwaukee-based paper has evolved over the last few years to a fairly objective paper vs. The Shrine of Madison & UW Alumni paper who will never find anything nice to say because his ideas threaten their rice bowl.

One thing that is still only beginning to heal (but will) is that, in the absence of lots of tribute paid by the State citizens & employee union members many school districts & municipalities have dried the tears & actually found they have more latitude to do what they think is best locally & get local town support in the bargain. But, wait, there's more, as the saying goes. They've found little surpluses  that let them execute things, which would've otherwise been consumed by those with their hands out. Doesn't mean local solutions to social issues (kids eating, single-parents' daycare) don't get worked, but it's amazing what happens when the layers above get out of the way. (Kinda like a battlespace...)

He's still working on getting a balanced budget and it's a tough slog because those lib newspapers will continue to mis-educate the populace with alarmist financial language. People largely read the headline, then the heading of the individual column & that's about it (my view). So when a paper cries, "Budget Deficit!" the less discerning will think, "Catastrophe! Another promise broken."

It's usually only occasionally that someone bothers to point out that a budget deficit is not bad, just the difference between what's available and all the "stuff" everybody wants - the emotional UFR's.

After passing Act 10, and then during the recall (where he was elected with a larger share than the 1st time), whole bus convoys of imported union riff-raff from out of state were brought in. If he gets some real national attention, expect that all gloves come off and the DNC will stop at nothing. On the plus side, in lots of sleepy little hollows, those with their current buyer's remorse (x2) are starting to look in the mirror. That's a good thing.

Col. West, Ted Cruz, Scott Walker, Trey Gowdy, Mike Lee, Marco Rubio.....

I have some issue with Dr. Carson's 2A stance and he has since backtracked on that a bit. Rubio's immigration ideas are troublesome, but at least they are more sensible than the other crap I've heard. I also think the democraps twisted his ideas a bit the last time around.

I don't know of any other candidates as eloquent as Cruz and Rubio when it comes to explaining exactly what Conservatism means. They are very Reagan-esque communicators.

I need to do a little more research on Carly Fiorina, I don't know much about her.

I have certainly had enough of the Republican "old guard" like Romney, Huckleberry, Rick Perry etc. They had their shot and lost....that should be a clue.

As I posted elsewhere, I'd vote for my neighbors dog if it would keep another "D" out of the Peoples House.

A Presidential campaign is a start-up business that earns and spends a billion dollars in 18 months time.

Many of these candidates are 80 percenters for me. I like them only 80%. Which is far more that I like any of the opposition candidates. I try to not let a single issue effect my decision - as long as it is not too egregious.

I prefer presidential candidates to have some national command or statewide leadership experience with successfully being elected statewide at least once. Say three star command in wartime, full-term state governors or attorney general. Candidates need to be recent, i.e. still engaged and active in the process. Congress critters need to be multi-termed at least!

Knocks out West, Huckabee, Rubio, Paul, Fiorina, Carson, Rowe, Santorum...

Rubio, J.Bush, Christie, Graham all fall below the 80% threshold for me.

I prefer candidates that are electable. Unfortunately, my standards seem to be too high.

I like Cruz, Paul, and would consider Walker if he turns out to be a true conservative.

IMHO, none of the others are reliably conservative. For example, Carson is anti-gun, he just listened to his advisers and adopted a more popular position to be more electable in the Republican primaries. He doesn't really believe you have the right to own a black rifle.

Isn't it a leadership/political trait being able to put aside a personal belief for the good of the unit/nation, when in a leadership role?

Is the larger question whether he would support an AWB, or appoint an anti-gun Supreme Court Justice, if actually elected?

My concern is not what his personal beliefs are, but what he will actually do. I don't believe that a good elected official goes off solely his personal beliefs, but what is good for their constituents/country. I can't fathom him doing something anti-2A, I'm pretty sure that the NRA could prevent him from winning the primaries.

I also like the idea of having a candidate that would be able to break up a lot of the typically democrat minority vote.

Romney wasn't very pro-gun either, IIRC...

The title of this thread is somewhat confusing...

Are we discussing a GOP candidate that will run as a republican?
Are we discussing a libertarian that will run AS a republican?
Are we discussing a liberal republican that will run as a moderate?
Are we discussing a conservative that... never mind I haven't seen one of those lately
Are we discussing an establishment republican that will pretend to be a conservative?

Of the names I've seen dropped in this thread so far, the best we could do is combine them all into one super-candidate that could run as an unbeatable liberal democrat.

My hope for climbing out of the nanny-state hole we are in is dwindling fast.

The closest thing I have seen to any real "life" from a republican lately was that melodramatic "get out of here you low-life scum"...
..."Low life scum"... who says that ?

Anything that relies on batteries - the batteries can die.

Get that smart gun into it's cute case next to the bed - and forget about it.

Three years later as someone kicks in your door and heads up the steps you pull out the gun and find out it will not work because the batteries have gone dead.

Bobby Jindal could be a solid candidate, but he seems to lack in charisma, which as we have seen is basically a death sentence in today's world of beauty contest presidential politics.

Has anyone thought about Nikki Haley from South Carolina? I know she has some blotches on her past related to (unsubstantiated) allegations of marital infidelity, but of course that didn't keep "Slick Willy" from getting elected in '92. I'm sure the MSM would go to town on her though...

This is an intriguing race for the GOP for sure...

So many variables with a long gauntlet to run through the biased, lying and crooked media yet. Should really be and interesting run.

The establishment GOP is bank rolling candidates that we probably won't find acceptable. So many of the ones that are pro-military are deep into government contracts and kickback industry.

Considering the list showing the top five will be very difficult to pull off because campaign financing is already heading south for them. Beltway logic certainly
don't think like folks who have had "boots on the ground" time.

IMHO the best candidates, with world situation, our downgraded military, and
the economy in the tank, would be Walker, West, or Cruz. However, we have a long time to wait and the liberal hounds are on the hunt for blood.

My God, we surely don't need more RHINOs on the ticket. When will we ever learn! Hopefully, grass roots will stand up and be counted.

I don't know why people keep bringing Jeb Bush into this. IMHO that would give Hilliary every incentive to run with all the negative stigma around the Bush family. People would vote simply because they want a woman in office just like in '08 where all they wanted was a Black man in office.
