For sharpening the debate until the choices bled, for reframing reality to match his design, for gambling his fortunes—and ours—on his faith in the power of leadership, George W. Bush is TIME's 2004 Person of the Year

First the American Soldier, now GWB, what is going on at Time?

They spent a lot of effort and capital trying to defeat him, maybe they are just acknowledging their failure?

Outstanding news, regardless!

Guess I have to wake up earlier to make an Early Bird news post! Congrats Mr. President, well deserved!

Love this quote:

In the Time article, Bush said he relishes that some people dislike him.

"I think the natural instinct for most people in the political world is that they want people to like them," Bush said. "On the other hand, I think sometimes I take kind of a delight in who the critics are."

I think this is great but don't forget that in 1938 they named Hitler man of the year. Time has in the past likened President Bush to Hitler.

Hmmm...where did I put my umbrella?

:p

True they did, time will tell if the article is positive or not. (no pun intended as the mag doesn't come out until Monday)

I am not trying to stir the pot at all and in fact I support the President and Commander in Chief 110% and then some. However, the criteria that time uses to select the Man of the Year can lead them to give this to someone like Hitler. I am simply waiting for the liberals to make the comparison and scream and run round like the lunatics we know them to be.

At the University of Texas on all the pin up boards you would see swaztikas (sp?) and such with POTUS raising his arm in a "hile Hitler" fashion all over the place. Its pretty sickening that people can even draw that comparison. I was actually a lot more moderate going to college having my dad be left of center and my mom be a conservative. Then I get to UT, and what I see is pure idiocy. I would never want to be associated with any of those people or what they believe. Words cannot express how much self-restraint I had to use in order to not throw fists or verbally assault 3/4 of campus.

EDIT: Congratulations President!!

LOL.

Hey they named Arafat man of the year, but I still congratulate President Bush for being a leader through some of the most vile, manipulative, antagonistic, partisan BS then any president has ever had to go through.

I applaud this award for different reasons than Time.

p.s. I like what you quoted from the President, Gypsy:

" I take kind of a delight in who the critics are."
