I'm thinking about getting my kids a couple GoPro 3's for Christmas.

The G-kids(4) are big into water sports, swim competition, & diving. Their ages run 3-9 yo. We all have iphones, the video is OK, but not water-proof.

In doing research, there does not seem to be much competition.

Anyone want to opine??

Thanks

Polaroid cube is $99. Far fewer features, but for the grand kids could be an option. I'm not really into all this gadgetry, so my opinion is based off reading only. I have no real world experience with said tech:D

I saw virtually every model of the competition used while attending a recent infantry school.

It boiled down to the Contour GPS for features, GoPro for video quality.

This is want I have read. With a slight bias against the Contour's perceived odd shape..

Too many fancy, dancy, new fangeled ones now-a-days.

I just stay with the old school model. :D

I have a GoPro Black and a Contour GPS. as others have stated, the video with the GoPro is superior, but the form factor and geo data on the Contour outweigh the small advantage the GoPro has with video quality.

Others worth looking at are the Sony and Garmin offerings.
