Just got back from Phase 2 (thats the SUT part of the course) and I am glad to be done with it. Got a bit cold up there, certainly a lot colder than I am used to, and that took a toll on a lot of people. It was far and away more difficult than Selection, so those of you expecting the same amount of suck will need to gear it up a bit.

Biggest piece of advice I have for those going up there is to read up on your ranger HB, it will help you out on learning the steps for what you have to do. Other than that, DON'T QUIT, it is said on here time and again and there were still a high number of VW's, don't do it.

Brother, you and I both know cold, but I have to say that after working at Phase II for 3 year the colderst I've ever been was on night it dropped down to about 12 degrees on my in a patrol base just west of Rhine Luzon DZ. I know the students were colder than me, but that night just plain sucked.

Speaking of cold, its 24 degrees here tonight in balmy Baqubah and they are calling for snow. WTF?

If they would have told me, I was going to 10th.

Cold hurts...heat is just miserable. :D

Keep on...trucking on!

I hear ya, mffjm. Growing up in northern New England, I was under the (very mistaken) impression that states like Georgia and Florida were warm all year round. Suck school (Dec to Feb) was a rude awakening to how wrong I was.

D9 is just finishing up PLDC/BNCOC as he was not a REP-63/18X. After selection he had a couple months to recuperate from SFAS. He should be starting Phase II in January if memory serves me.

He should be along in a few days to correct me if I am wrong.

Was around -15 C(5 F) a couple of days ago, now its a nice and warm 0 C(32 F)

Hoping for some more snow, since it poured down some rain and with the warmer weather in the past few days.....

I got the best of both extemes that Ft Bragg has to offer when I went through, SUT in Aug (Hi temp of 104 degrees) and Sage in Feb (two icestorms back to back). As a result of Sage my body temp which formerly averaged 98.6 now averages 97.0. Just the same I am glad I got 10th Group because I hate the heat.

Experienced the cold (and heat) of Benning (OSUT in Jan to Apr, Abn, RIP until late July). But going to Iraq ruined my tolerance for cold, I could handle it before. However, after days on end of 120 - 130+ and nights of 80 (and I'm freezing my ass off at 80), I can't get used to the cold again. Heat doesn't phase me at all anymore, though. And here I am with a selection date for Feb. Should be fun, lol.
