Have been debating the Vortex PST or one of the Leupold versions. All are between the $400-$500 range new. I know these are popular with some and completely pointless to others. Anyone looking to sell or trade one let me know. Opinions on both (Or something bettter) greatly are appreciated as well.

Thanks,

Mike

Look at the Bushnell 1x6. A bit more pricewise but a lot more performance wise.

Concur.

To get to that level in the Leupold line requires significantly more cash.

When I was a kid, no one would put a Bushnell on a rifle. The perception was that the glass was low quality, and that the scope would lose zero from very minor shock/recoil. It sounds like they are making pretty good scopes now. I guess I'm going to have to try one.

The Vortex PST viper and lower end Leupold are obviously competing with each other with MSRP of $499 while the next step up for both brands are around 1k. I'm not one to go cheap on optics, but trying out something different with this platform so not ready to fully commit. Bushnell wasn't even on my radar and the input is much appreciated. I checked out some online today and the reviews were all great and some pretty good deals as well (Not that I needed online reviews after getting the input here).

I most likely won't be purchasing for a couple weeks unless some crazy super ultra amazing one time only Black Friday online sale randomly appears on my homepage, so any and all input still welcome and as always appreciated. Also still open to anyone looking to part with one.

Thanks,

Mike

Nothing wrong with the scopes you're looking at, but if you'll consider spending $875 for your glass, europtic has a great deal on the Steiner Military 1x4. They've discontinued that model and are making a 1x5 now that's selling for $2600. It's a really good deal, I bought 3. Reticle is a DM-1 in 556, red dot illuminates from very faint to super bright. It's the best IR I've ever used. Glass is typical Steiner, very good. You won't be disappointed.

Another Bushnell is the 1-4x Throw Down PCL. I use one for "3-gun" shooting and hog hunting on an 18" AR
I'm typically not a BDC fan but it works out to 400-500m. It's FFP and the illuminated reticle. Glass is good. The throw lever is an easy way to go from 1-4x. 30mm tube with .mil adjustments. The reticle is bright enough but not as bright as an Aimpoint.

And it's $200ish....

Don't compare it to a Short-dot or some of the new 1-6, 1-8 offerings but for the $$ it's a great little scope.

I picked one of these up at Wally World a couple of nights ago. I paid $130.00 plus tax. It was red tagged for some reason, kid at the counter said he wasn't sure why. The original price was $189.99.. I had an itch that needed scratching. I wanted something for my LWRC, now I need to figure out which rings or mount. I am partial to Vortex, but this fit the bill.

yep, I still have a POS FWIW Bushnelll spotting scope purchased 10 years ago. Needless to say, I was hesitant to purchase anything Bushnell. However, after trying them out at several sniper expo, demo range, and add master Rick endorsement and the intro price, I thought I had nothing to lose. Absolutely no regret. I'm now looking to get Bushnell bino and range finder actually

I understand you don't want to go cheap, but good bang for your buck should not be ignored IMHO

I've played with this for a few years, dropped it, shot it at varying illumination, etc. BLUF, if you can tolerate mushy turret and reticle light that spills FOV, the Japanese-made glass quality is too good for the price. Hence, the bang for your buck

The IOR Valdada 1-10 35mm is a great option too for around $2100.00

I ran one on my last two rotations without complaint. The day I played hop scotch with the IED I had it on my 16" upper, in my left hand. The blast mangled my hand a lil, the Troy floating rail, and bent the heavy barrel. The scope, other than being dirty, still holds its zero and the adjustments are true. It's sitting atop an 18" SPR now and is as true as the day I bought the glass.

Just a shameless plug for primary arms
https://www.primaryarms.com/Bushnell_Rifle_Scopes_s/921.htm

I have TRS25 that is a bad apple purchased not too long ago. Sent an email out explaining what I did, my prior experience with TRS25, and expectation. Less than 12 hours later I got the RMA # and shipping label. This is the kind of service I used to get from Larue Tactical!!!

Don't miss out on their Cyber MOnday sale
