This probably belongs in the medical section and move as needed but,

The Pentagon has decided no more live animal use for combat medical purposes.

I know this has been brought up many times over the years, but this time it seems that manakins will win out.

I've never seen a piece of plastic die and or want to live!

Rank stupidity...
Hopefully this will not impact SOCOM units.

Instead of animals why not use child molesters.

Better yet, federal beurocrats. A much overlooked level of scum and villainy. Worse than chesters.

Nah, would still be great practice, just as long as the final moments are all the same, a bit of pink stuff, then chilling out with their buddies before a final party at the hottest hangout around.

SFGrunt,

I think that's one of the funniest inside references I've heard in any community I've been in :lifter

Only someone with grated floors in their house would get those references.

Agree - funny. Personally, I'm not worried about this decision adversely affecting SF medical training. SF medics and those other SOF personnel attending our schools have always striven for excellence, training to the highest achievable standards within the constraints imposed by outside entities. This will not change that fact. Sometimes "Special" really does mean "SPECIAL".

Disagree.

Some of the best medical training I got as a young MD was with a group of AF PJ's and some 'injured' pigs.

I don't like to see animals harmed needlessly, but there is no substitute for the intensity of an animal model.

I want my PJ's to have the best training possible. I've trained with good manikins--they are great. But they don't come close to trying to keep a real animal alive. Train like you fight? Train like you treat.

Its a shame all this PC shit, LTT was some of the best training in the medical field this Bravo ever had.
