View Full Version : NRA Life Member
Wish I had know about this years ago. Just signed up as a life member last week.
If you are a disabled vet you get a lifetime membership for $375 instead of $1,000. I just did it over the phone. I have been paying a 5 year membership. Not sure what I was thinking.
Just give them a call and tell them you are a disabled vet and they can take care of it over the phone.
The number to call is: 1-800-672-3888

You might be able to call the membership life and get NRA Life member for $200.00. I was able to do that last year, and got Endowed for $200.00 this year.
They keep calling and offering me special deals for life membership but I refuse because they, occasionally, do stupid things that they need to be punished for like endorsing Harry Reid in his last election. I cancelled my membership and, when they called, I told them why. It's not the money, it's principle. I'm a marginal fan of the NRA at best.

Not sure what I was thinking.
The NRA gave Harry Reid's Senate campaign $100,000 and endorsed him over the Tea Party candidate resulting in Harry becoming the Majority Leader of the Senate.
Not having a run at you Alelks, but the rank and file membership needs to revolt like they did in 2000 putting Charlton Heston in and replacing the current compromising leadership they have now.

Not saying I approve of everything the NRA does (and I really dislike Harry Reid), but has he supported any firearms legislation since then?
They are pretty much a single issue organization, and they got what they needed.
FWIW, I am an NRA life member for more than 20 years.

There are twenty-seven words to the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the last four being ... Shall Not Be Infringed.
IMO, the NRA has forgotten that. The way that they compromise with various parties concerning 2nd Amendment issues, doesn't sit well with me. That plus their endorsement of and contributions to Harry Reid really chapped my hide.
I made it known to them that I did not care for their tactics or 'politics' concerning that, and made it known to them by tearing up my life membership card and mailing it back to them with a simple note ... 'Thanks for the memories.'
They continue to try to get money from me but I simply refuse and tell them I'm happier with another group. One that will actually stand up not only for me, but other Americans who care about their 2nd Amendment Rights.
If you care about your 2nd Amendment Rights as I do, it would be wise to check out and also become a member of NAGR (National Association of Gun Rights).

This group feels the same way as I do that the last four words in the 2nd Amendment is there for a reason .... Shall Not Be Infringed.
The NRA makes no secret of how they endorse candidates.
That is why they can get Democrats to toe the line.
If you are an incumbent and haven't pushed anti gun legislation you will get the nod over a challenger - yeah, even if it's a Tea Party Darling.
PO's me sometimes but I under stand why.
Oh yeah, I'm a life member also.

I agree, and have been a Life member since 1963. My dad signed me up when I was 11.

My brother got a sticker from my Grandpa when we were kids and put it at the front door to our Dad's house that said, "I am the NRA!"
Long time ago, but the house was never broken into...something about that slogan that I am assuming thieves remember...NRA means do not mess with this house!;):munchin

The NRA - like some candidates - is far from perfect.
But, the primarily one issue organization is a big dog lobbyist in DC and they do protect the Second Amendment -- more times than not -- their imperfect positions are far better than the other side.
There are other very good organizations out there that protect the 2A.
However, consistent with the OP - those prices for life membership are a good deal and dare I say a good investment.
But, I am admittedly biased.
