View Full Version : Who are we & where did we come from
Who are we & where did we come from?
A study that changes the "man is the only" story a bit.
Murder 'comes naturally' to chimpanzees

"A major study suggests that killing among chimpanzees results from normal competition, not human interference.
Apart from humans, chimpanzees are the only primates known to gang up on their neighbours with lethal results - but primatologists have long disagreed about the underlying reasons.
One proposal was that human activity, including destroying habitats and providing food, increased aggression.
But the new findings, published in Nature, suggest this is not the case...."
I remember way back watching a NatGeo show with Jane Goodall. I think it was the first time a tribe of apes was filmed killing an ape from another tribe. The ape was ripped to tiny pieces.
Who are we & where did we come from?
I have been asking the same question a lot lately.
The ape was ripped to tiny pieces.
The side which claims victory often cannibalizes the dead as well.
Interesting, albeit not surprising.
What I'd like to see is a survey of progressive liberals to see if they truly believe glacially slow human evolution is accelerating like technological revolution. That we can easily evolve beyond violence towards each other.
One of the most dangerous naive beliefs I see today is from those who think humans ca transcend violence by simply self identifying as western progressive liberals.

Stop interfering with Mother Nature; allow them their delusions, it's better for the human race. In order for the species to improve, Darwin has to be allowed to work unimpeded; trying to instill a dose of reality into lib-progs is counterproductive. When they finally succeed in pulling everything down around our collective ears, the resulting massive die-off will cleanse the gene pool and we can start moving forward as a species again. Personally, I've reached the point where I'm looking forward to the zombie apocalypse. :munchin

No worries! ;)
Yeah......I can't help but try to be a glass half full of optomism that the mess can be fixed and the course changed.
But the overflowing bucket of realism flooding the place is getting harder and harder to ignore.
I wonder if the Kubler Ross 5 Stages of Grief model needs to add a 6th, renewal.

Unfortunately Darwinism cannot work as we have killed everything that would normally cull the herd of the weak, sick, and stupid.

Join the club! We even have t-shirts and the sand colored ones go well with ACUs. I have no stake in either company, btw.

I don't think that it's "we've killed everything that would normally cull the herd of the weak", we've just put warning labels on everything now-a-days, which as we all know, warning labels mess with the natural order.
I say remove the labels and let the hilarity ensue. :D :munchin

Not me. I like coffee, hot showers, grocery stores, parties where girls wear slutty Halloween costumes, air travel...

That assumes people actually read the warnings.
Or can read at all.

To the strong go the spoils. There's no need to miss out on any of those things; you just have to be one of the strong. ;)
