View Full Version : Is the U.S. now irrelevant on the world stage?
So, with such an overt action being carried out, and denial from both Egypt and the U.A.E., what does it say about our standing among world powers that we were not informed of a bombing run on Libya?

Is this what it feels like when lions are led by sheep?
Since when does Egypt and the UAE need our permission, or to inform us of what they are going to do? The less we are involved in the ME the better.

I agree, however I am not up to snuff on U.S. personnel numbers (if any) in that particular AO. If we have personnel over there now, it would be nice for them to get a heads up if any bombing runs are going to take place.
I know we had people there last month, so it stands to reason there could still be some boots/shoes on ground.
From this (http://www.stripes.com/news/africom-postpones-training-libyan-troops-1.300333) link (Stars and Stripes)
Clashes between rival militias have steadily intensified in recent months across Libya, where order has never been fully restored since a NATO bombing campaign three years ago that helped oust former strongman Moammar Gadhafi.
Last month, the U.S. military helped evacuate U.S. personnel at the American embassy in Tripoli.

Perhaps the two are doing our bidding for us. I can see why we would want to put an Arab face on the bombing of Islamist factions in Libya. YMMV.

I disagree. They need to go through the UN and get international permission before they act. Everyone knows we need to defer to the UN in more matters and the world would be a better place even if we do have to give up some of our sovereignty. Nothing is more effective than a UN decision and action. They are number one in the world when it comes to effectively getting things done.
I'm new to most everything that gets posted and am trying to learn any time I get the chance. Are you being serious with the post about the U.N.?

The primary mission of the United States Army Special Forces is to train, organize and direct indigenous forces in the conduct of unconventional warfare.
Not "doing our bidding" but being led and supported in defending their own interests with their own blood, sweat, tears and money. It's everything Special Forces should appreciate.
I don't see the difference. ;)
Actually I do but to a lesser degree than you.
Then you Eastern Okies are color blind and us Panhandle Okies ain't. :D
Honestly, the magenta is harder to see with the dark grey background here. Plus, Richard chose pink and not magenta for humor and sarcasm, not me. ;)

Irrelevant, not a chance
Did we vote to be temporarily "unled" by a spineless coward as POTUS, yes.
I don't think we are irrelevant just yet...
...we still have a checkbook full bribery tickets
We are not irrelevant yet...
...for fuck sake, have a little patience, our leaders are trying to get us there as fast as they can.
...some of you are more impatient than my damn kids.
