A Closer Look at Terrorism in Southeast Asia

USA doesn't look at Asia as a Muslim controlled regional. Well the growing extremism in Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia is something that all need to watch out for.

Alarming trend, but I have faith the zillion dollars of investment the US and other nations put into the ATA program in Indonesia are yielding interests. My "sources" report growing trend such as ISIS murals and all, but the local leadership reacted swiftly and countered the propaganda through news media and social media. Yes, it's still jittery over there after the thin Gore-Bush-like election split and the ISIS sympathizers can capitalize that. However, just like how plenty AQ terrorist/extremist were ratted out and mostly killed on the spot by US-trained Densus 88, the message to the people is still clear that the "Islamist" are not pro-Indonesia at all or even pro-moslem with the high moslem body count in their bombings campaign. With ISIS' following its Jordanian thug founder, Zarqawi's ruthless application of takfir and butchering fellow muslims, it will be a tough sell to Islamic moderates in Indonesia too. This is the area where our (perceived) appraisal of Islam has to tread carefully, lest we polarize them towards ISIS, AQ, etc. Our coming to the aid to the Shiah, the Yazidi, etc. is also a great opportunity to polarize the moderates towards us (or lessen their conditioned hatred for us)

Good stuff Mtngoat, we should link up and compare/exchange notes some time...after friendly marksmanship match at 100m....with pistol :D
