"Buy your chips and get out" That's fairly simple.

If they sold beer in that deli you can bet this soldier would be late getting home.

OK, OK..."Go Army". (There, I said it.)

1st - Good for him

2nd - I don't like media staged incidents for the camera.

Agreed about not liking staged incidents how can any of us not wonder if what we saw was real, kind of the perfect storm there. My question would be if the roles were to be reversed and this was staged in any predominately Muslim country would a local citizen come forward to defend an obvious American cashier?

Exactly.......how would the "journalist" and "news show" have spun it if the soldier in uniform was simply uninvolved?

Staged incidents could have some really bad outcomes. These guys clearly f'd up and are lucky to have made it out of there in one piece. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyDM_13Mn48)

Interesting question. Good for the soldier. Definitely living up to American ideals. :lifter

The soldier segment probably wouldn't have aired in that case.

I'd be surprised if any show like this would be willing to take the ratings hit necessary for casting a U.S. soldier in an unfortunate (uninvolved) light.

Ever see a show called 'Enlisted'?

You reckon?

It certainly seems like there are enough in the media and authority who would probably be more than happy to portray the US military (or individuals serving in it) in a negative light.

Have a look at public polls on "most respected" institutions/individuals and compare the ratings for the President, Congress, and individual politicians. Then compare with how the US military rates.

It's no contest. It's an embarrassment.

With only 6 entities in control of somewhere around 90% of US mass media and their alignment with special interests in the US political system, are you that sure?

Mass media spin mashing up veterans, PTSD, and the 2nd Amendment; Or stories emphasising military background of egregious criminals leaves me a bit less confident than you I'm afraid.

If only the soldier had diplomatically disagreed on camera with becoming an unknowing participant in an infotainment laboratory experiment.

But I guess that would never get aired and it could impair the contribution he made to building and sustaining a positive perception of the military in the eyes of the public.
