D-Day veteran missing from nursing home had snuck away to Normandy to mark the 70th anniversary

An 89-year-old veteran reported missing from a nursing home was found in France marking the anniversary of the D-Day landings.

Bernard Jordan, who hid his war medals as he went 'AWOL', has contacted the home and said his friends are going to make sure he gets back safely when the commemorations end.

Dude, sounds like my great uncle Chris.

A WW I vet living in a nursing home in the 80's. His pards down at the VFW kept kidnapping him and taking him down to the VFW Hall where they passed many hours smoking and drinking.

The staff was pissed because they would bring him back in his wheel chair, park it by the front door, ring the bell and run.

They were all POed because all that late night stuff was bad for his health. Yeah, right.

You go guy, don't let them box you in.

I expected it to be about an American. The logistics would then have been much more daunting. ;)

Good story anyway, though. :lifter
