Actually, your military driver's license.

Got to thinking the other day on the different types of military vehicles I had a license for.

While I was in, I had a license for ....

1/4 ton
880
CUCV
HUMMV
and
M-113

Not that many, but was wondering what the other members of the board had/have.

***Extra bonus points for anyone who has BOTH being able to drive a tank and fly a gunship. :D

My early paperwork was lost when they went digital. So none now. I used to be licensed for:

The 1/4 ton Jeep, forget the nomenclature, but the last one before HMMWV's. I want to say M1A1, but that is probably wrong. It was a real POS with the starter on the floorboard.
TAACOM Instructor Certification M998 series HMMWV
M-113
1/2 Ton
Gamma Goat

Funny thing, I joined the Army at 17 and actually did not have a civilian driver's license until I got out. I was 18 when they sent me to the HMMWV course thinking it was just a regular driver course for the transition from jeep to HMMWV, Apparently it was too late when they figured out that it was an instructor course. I was the only enlisted, E-3, in a room full of CWOs. This gave me the ability to sign off on any SF-46 or DA 348 Army wide for the HMMWV. I then got tasked to teach the BDE motor pool personnel and BN drivers. All before I could even drive a car legally.

M151a2 MUTT perhaps? Whenever I see one, I still get an overwhelming urge to mount a PRC-77 in the back of it.

Ha, found them. They were right where I left them! (That's a first. ;))

Sedan: 5-8 pass
Truck: 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1 1/2 Ton
Truck: (All) 2 1/2 Ton

Generator Set: 100KW

The generator was the best. It was in a large, warm, loud, DRY, room where I got to ride out typhoons when the power went down. :D

5 Ton Tractor/Trailer
80 Pax
45 Pax Bus

Oh yeah, they loved me during post support. I spent so much time up at TMP I could get a 80 Pax or Bus without a request.

And everything smaller at TMP and the 5th Gp Motor Pool - except motorcycle.

Then there is that French Beast that was Oil Cooled and just listed as Truck/Cargo 5/10 ton.

Sin Jefe, I was qualified on the "Gamble" Goat too. It was a gamble every time you cranked it if it would get you from point a to b without breaking down.

Ok, learned how to drive an M151A2 at Ft. McClellan which I've now learned was actually a highly toxic environment when I went through Basic and AIT in '81.

Learned how to drive an M113 (on the water too) at Ft. Benning back in '84. I remember that the 113 was a pretty rough ride when you went off road.

So they used your 2-1 file for the script in "First Blood". "I could drive a million dollar tank. Fly and gunship. And here I can't even hold a damn job!!" :D

Backing that thing with a short wheelbase generator trailer into the motorpool was the most challenging part of any maneuvers. Once you got the hang of 4 wheel steering, it was a piece of cake. 8th Sig in the FRG had them till 85 when the Hmmwv's started trickling in.

Try sling loading it. It had a truss kit developed just for it. I always thought it would break in half.

Wasn't licensed, but did have the opportunity to fire one of these
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/58/M274_with_M40_in_AAFM.jpg at 55 gal drums in the ocean with the Marines down in GTMO before GTMO was cool (summer of '82). PV2 Me couldn't afford any film after I ran out before the shoot, so the pic is off of the internet.
