If you were a liberal and were offended by a conservative speaker, they would rescind the invitation immediately...

The news media is not now relevant. They have become de facto representatives of the left. If the media was relevant, Hilary Clinton would be in jail for allowing an ambassador of the United States of America to be captured, tortured, sexually assaulted and murdered.

This is one of the most memorable statements I have ever read on the forum, a simple truth... If folks don't start speaking up for what is right we'll get more of the same, and that is intolerable. Good work Sir.

I found this researching who the Roche Group is and why they'd sponsor Hillary Clinton for this event.

Their stock has gone way up since The Affordable Care Act was signed in 2010.

Hope more professionals follow your lead.

TJ Good for you for letting your feelings be known, there can be little doubt that you are not the only one who feels this way but most folks are afraid to speak up lest they be branded as haters and right wing extremists. It only takes one person to light the fuse, thank you for stepping up to the plate. She is not the beloved individual that the MSM would like us all to think she is.

I don't think so other than they are both whoring to the speaker circuit now. Organization like BIO pay guys like them to headline events to draw in conference registrations and make $s. I've never been too fond of trade associations (lobbying organizations) and this most recent choice with Hilary for Keynote Speaker just turned my stomach. I've already had some issues with BIO like supporting the ACA and the increasing influence that PhRMA is having - this is the last straw.

Lan - The Roche Group acquired Genentech a few years ago. The acquisition or licensing of Biotech products are the only thing keeping PhRMa alive. Frankly, I am no fan of PhRMA. Their business practices are predatory (especially Pfizer & Roche), their cost structure is ridiculous ($1.2 Billion for a new drug) and drives an obscene price for new drugs, and drugs that they do develop are only palliative. One case (mulitple myeloma, IIRC) the treatment course was $300,000 and provided patients, on average, 4.5 months of additional life expectancy. One of the major cancer centers balked and refused to include the drug in their formulary. I hope this a harbinger of things to come.

I do understand the PhRMA business model and I find it out of touch with the current environment. PhRMA has simply lost focus and exists to serve its shareholders not patients.

And finally, I hate the way small biotechs suck up to PhRMA. The biotech industry actually believes it's their objective to license drug candidates to PhRMA and they all celebrate when they close a deal. Unfortunately, everyone of the idiots either does not realize or doesn't care that PhRMA just took 85% of the value in their drug candidate. Oh, and I am sure that PhRMA can justify that within their business model. After all they have to support that infrastructure and provide growth for their shareholders. And in the end who pays - you and I do through obscene price the insurers allow. It seems as if everyone has drunk the Kool Aid on this one.

Well times they are a changin' and a new breed of biotechs will emerge with a new business model that will ultimately change everything in the industry. And patients will return to center ring, and real life saving drugs will not bankrupt families, or our country.

Sorry for the off-topic rant

Can't put my finger on the source, but I read something recently wherein the PIAPS (pig in a pants suit) won't even go speak to a girl scout troop unless she's either given a couple of free girl scouts to take home and abuse (my input) or, a half million dollars to flap her soup-coolers. Pretty stout speaking fees.

I have an option for you. Go the the speech, when she takes the stage and the spectator orgasm dies down, intro is done and the noise ends, as she starts to speak stand up and slowly walk from the room. She will either have to talk through your exit or wait until you are out of the room.
I would do this now. In my younger days I MIGHT has yelled something profane on the way to the door.
I lot of speaker keep the expense money and donate the fees back to the organization. This troll is not one of them.

As I've pointed out in another thread, this is Lady Bathory we're talking about. Her minions would have a hard time explaining why the young girls were never seen again so they steer her clear of such events as to prevent the dark mistress's appetites from getting out of hand and drawing attention to her true identity. :D

Thank you for your input! I apologize in advance if I'm off base, but I found an idea she proposed in 2007 here (http://vote-ny.org/politicianissue.aspx?state=ny&id=nyclintonhillaryrodham&issue=busprescriptiondrugs), which allowed generic drug companies the ability to compete with name brand drugs to lower costs for the rest of us. I could not find anything which stated where that idea ended up going, but I do find the profits of Roche particularly interesting, given the administrations goal of providing healthcare to everyone. Making a profit from a noble idea... If I were a betting man, I'd bet she is well vested in Roche, but that's par for the course for the nobility who make decisions on our behalf. A family member (MD), who works for a medical trials company, had this to say-

"80% of the new drugs discovered in the world happen in America. We have the most expensive saftey regulations, read billions per drug... Americans support patents, and the higher drug costs that come with them. The rest of the world doesn't respect the patents, and can sell drugs to their citizens at the price of the chemical rather than the price of development. Pharma spends a larger percent of their earnings on research and development than every other industry. Americans do pay more than their fare share, but the world benefits."

In any event, I support what is good for the people, but I also support capitalism. If a company can provide low cost drugs for people, and develop drugs that cure or remedy serious disease, I am all for it. The taxpayer cost of big pharma R&D is a good thing IMO. We're paying for the safety we get through regulation, and we're paying for their profits, but I think competition will change that. I don't like Hillary Clinton; I hope more professionals in your field follow your lead. Politics is a shell game where wrongdoings are easily forgotten, especially when big companies make the offender a figure in their field by putting them on a pedestal.

I appreciate your post because I've learned a bit in the last 24 hours. Again, I apologize if I'm not tracking, or if I'm getting off topic.
