A National Guard private from California was arrested trying to cross the U.S. border into Canada on Sunday and charged with attempting to travel to Syria to join al Qaeda and fight for “Allah’s Army.”

The criminal complaint against Nicholas Teausant also alleges he discussed a potential strike against the Los Angeles subway system with a confidential source.

Teausant, 20, was arrested without incident on a bus in Blaine, Wash., according to the U.S. Attorney’s office in Sacramento, Calif. Prosecutors charge that Teausant, a student at San Joaquin Delta Community College in Stockton, Calif., headed north “with the intent of continuing to travel to Syria to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, a foreign terrorist organization more widely known as al Qaeda in Iraq.”

1. San Joachim Delta College is the same venue where two vets dressed down a fake Ranger Master Sergeant.

2. Mr. Nicholas Teausant was quoted in an article defending the two vets.

Look who was interviewed in the article on the phony vet:

Excerpt:

A man wearing military clothing on the San Joaquin Delta College campus this week has stirred controversy.

Those who have confronted him said they’re certain he didn’t serve in the military and they consider his clothing choice disrespectful, even illegal. The man insists he served in the military, police said, and he’s been seen on campus several times.

“Until you’ve gone through basic training and had a drill sergeant yelling at you, doing pushups and losing blood, sweat and tears, and you’re missing your girlfriend and family, you have no business wearing that uniform,” said Delta student Nicholas Teausant, who serves in the National Guard.

Well, the Seattle Times article says that Teausant enlisted in the National Guard in April 2012 but never underwent basic training because he didn’t meet academic requirements. DUH. So the lost “blood, sweat and tears” he quoted must have occurred when he video conferenced basic at the Fresno RSP Armory.

Anyone ever seen Sleeper Cell? It was either Showtime or HBO circa 2005.
