FLOTUS on the Tonight Show. In a skit with Fallon and Will Ferrell. Totally beneath her. However, I think for the low information voters this is a home run. She's cool, she's hip. She's on TV. What is your impression of the First Lady? Oh, I've been seeing her and the President on the coolest shows, so they rock. The hottest thing since Bill Clinton on sax.

This is just my own, admittedly biased, observations and not based on anything scientific. But not long after Maxim magazine came out and became a hit, I coined the phrase "the Maxim Effect".

Maxim was packed with big pictures and articles of just a few paragraphs in length. Perfect for short attention spans. Sound bites in magazine form. Made for the culture in which Kim Kardashian could build a multi-million dollar career based on a sex tape. Kimmy could be California’s next Senator just based on name recognition. The Maxim Effect.

More Americans can name all the Housewives of New York than can identify Joe Biden as the Vice President. The Maxim Effect.

Do you know someone who associates Miley Cyrus with twerking but doesn’t know Benghazi is a city in Libya, much less a scandal involving a murdered American ambassador and three other Americans? The Maxim Effect.

Can you name more members of your favorite band than you can name Supreme Court justices? The Maxim Effect.

Does your news come from only one source, particularly Comedy Central? The Maxim Effect.

I could go on, but if you’re a regular visitor to this site I think you get it. Rant over.
