View Full Version : (College) kids say the dumbest things

It's a good thing I'm opting to go with a minor in Industrial Design as opposed to continuing for another 2 years for a major. These kids I'm in class with can be so damn infuriating at times. Most of them are decent and work hard but then they open their pie holes and stupid pours out.

Earlier this week one of the girls said "Keeping designs from all the people is messed up. The government should just take control of all the patents and then give them to everyone." I just about reenacted that scene from "Big Trouble In Little China" where the big henchman blows himself up. Instead, I settled for a little embolism behind my right eye.

The other kids took up the conversation, discussing they wouldn't want today's government doing that, but maybe a government like the one back in the 1800's. I refrained from joining in to keep from verbally bashing the lot of them. Like I said, they are mainly good kids but the inane sh*t they have been taught up to this point has got them wholly embracing the virtues of this administration.

Another thing that has challenged my limits is the glamorization of everything evil and despotic that those of us who served, stood against. I've about had it with all these "enlightened" ass monkeys strutting around with Mao, Che or a hammer and sickle crest on their shirts. Yes, I know, it's college and free thought and all, but someone should have slapped the snot out of these kids and made them understand that they need to know the difference between counterculture fads and just plain f*cking evil.

TOMAHAWK, they need you to show them the light.

I'd go with the Socratic Method...and think you'll be surprised with the results. Helps keep the BP below the flashpoint and makes you appear wise beyond your years, too.

MOO.

Figured that one out freshman year and can confirm it works for faculty and students alike sir.

Makes for interesting dialog with the professors that know you are calling their bluff.
When it does get sporty most of the class shuts up and looks like this-->:munchin

IMO I suspect you may have similar results if you gave it a whirl TOMAHAWK9521
YMMV

Here is some suggested attire for your college classes. Yes I have a couple of these for when I head to liberal land. :D

Fear not. I have a wide selection of Ranger Up shirts to annoy the enlightened with. My favorite is still "I Club Hippies" :D

I admit I probably should have taken up that approach. I had a moment of weakness and nearly allowed myself to ping. It took a great deal of self control to keep the words "You've got to be f*cking sh*tting me!!" from leaving my lips. There were enough idiots running their mouths in there already.

When the topics of how great Social/Marx/Communism pop back up (and they will) I shall follow your sound counsel and channel my fury into the merciless dismantling of their logic, or lack thereof.

Thank you, Richard.

Do they have the same caption with the b&w picture of his corpse on the autopsy table? Now that would be something to rile them up.

If they want to go back to a Laisse-Faire industry I'd like to hear how they'd deal with the externalities that the invisible hand ignores.

I still like the "so let's try it out right now, everyone with high grades can give some of their grade to the people with the lower grades and we can all share the wealth. That should mean everyone makes a low C or high D. Are you good with that? Why not?" approach.
