For all Active, Reserve, and Army (and Air) National Guard -- all ranks, all MOS/AFSC, all units worldwide (including USMA/West Point and Army senior program ROTC).

The USAMU and the US Army Infantry Center will host the Army Small Arms Championships at Fort Benning, Georgia from 11 thru 24 March 2005. Disciplines will be rifle, combat rifle, combat pistol, and long range rifle. Rifle and pistol matches are fired with helmet and LBE.

USAMU will give Small Arms Firing School type training for the rifle matches.

Individual and team rifle events are across-the-course at 200, 300, and 500 yards against the D silhouette (4,5, and V scoring rings) at 200 and 300 yards, and E-silhouette (25 meter pistol E-type silhouette with 3,4,5 point scoring rings) at 500 yards. Combat events are fired from 500 to 75 meters.

Combat pistol events are from 25 to 15 meters against the Figure 11 Hun target using AFSAM/Wilson Match 221 format.

Long Range matches are at 600, 800, and 1,000 yards, shot with both iron and optical sights. Beginning in 2005 there are two classes: M14 and Sniper (Sniper will be fired with the M24, AR-10/SR25/MK11 with bipod).

Weapons are rack grade M16A2, M16A3, M16A4, or M4 carbine, iron sights only. Pistols are standard M9 or M11. Long range rifles are M14 or M24 (USASOC units authorized issue AR-10/SR25/MK11). Personally-owned weapons and ammo are not authorized. USAMU has a limited number of weapons for issue to soldiers not normally assigned weapons. USAMU will issue 5.56mm 77 grain match, 9mm match, and 7.62mm M118 Long Range (or commercial equivalent) ammo for all matches.

Events include Secretary of the Army matches; Chief of Staff of the Army matches; Sergeant Major of the Army team matches; and EIC rifle and EIC combat pistol matches.

Secretary of the Army Trophy Rifles and other donated weapons and merchandise will be awarded.

Soldiers identified at the Army Championships may be requested to shoot on the Army, Army Reserve, and All Guard rifle and pistol teams at the Interservice and National Matches.
