View Full Version : A GORUCK "Welcome Party".

I completed a GORUCK Challenge over a year ago. Since then I have thought a lot about the experience and reflected greatly on it. One thing I would like to do is introduce aspects from my GORUCK experience to my students - in particular the importance of teamwork and never quitting regardless how bad things may be.

As everyone who has participated in a GORUCK event knows the first thing the Cadre does is have a "Welcome Party". I have done a little reading and understand that such 'parties' are the norm in military training to help promote teamwork. Since I would like to introduce a form of this in my classroom can anyone provide more information about them such as if they have an official name and a set of exercises that are done?

Unfortunately when I was participating in our Welcome Party I was more focusing on doing what I was told rather than what I was actually doing. Thank goodness we had a few military people who caught on quickly and figured out the patterns. So while I can remember a few of the exercises, I do not know enough to properly run such an event. Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
