"The security threat is higher than it's ever been in the history of the Olympic Games," Rathburn told Yahoo News. "In my opinion, it's not a matter of whether there will be an incident, it's just a matter of how bad it's going to be."
The mountain region has for generations been a hotbed for ethnic and and religious strife between native Islamic peoples and Russian forces.
Sounds like the Russians picked an ideal location to hold the Winter Olympics.

Maybe they should have thought to themselves:
"Hey why don't we have the Games right in the terrorist backyard! Great idea Vlad!"
Has there been an Olympics in recent history that has had less relevance than this one? The Olympics used to be a big deal and hosting them was an honor but now they are arguing about yogurt for the Americans.
"Shipment of Chobani yogurt to U.S. Olympic athletes in Sochi is BLOCKED.."

I seriously doubt that I will watch more than 5 minutes of the whole spectacle.

'Security experts fear terrorist attack at Sochi.'
Maybe no one cares about security at the Olympics this year. For that matter, there's a lot of things that seem to have been neglected, whitewashed, or lacking quality control.

Or maybe, just maybe, no one wants to think about the security failures of Olympics past:
