WASHINGTON — The Senate Intelligence Committee singled out Gen. Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, of exhibiting poor leadership and insufficient planning in their report on the Sept. 2012 attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

The committee on Wednesday released a declassified report on the attacks by al-Qaida linked militants that killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens.

“The tenure of … General Martin Dempsey, has been marked by what we view as significant deficiencies in command,” the report states. “From Syria to Benghazi, there has been either a profound inability or clear unwillingness to identify and prevent problems before they arise. Given the known operating environment in Benghazi, much less North Africa, a strong military leader would have ensured there was a viable plan in place to rescue Americans should the need arise.”

They spent a lot of time on Dempsey but then close with Clinton...

But the committee placed the ultimate blame for the loss of American lives in Benghazi on Hillary Clinton, who was in charge of the State Department at the time.

“The final responsibility for security at diplomatic facilities lies with the former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton,” the report stated. “The Temporary Mission Facility in Benghazi did not meet the security standards set by the State Department … At the end of the day, she was responsible for ensuring the safety of all Americans serving in our diplomatic facilities. Her failure to do so clearly made a difference in the lives of the four murdered Americans and their families.”

Maybe it is just Stars and Stripes focusing on the military element in the report but Dempsey's responsibility in it pales in comparison to Clinton.

I'd say key leadership all the way to the top were on their asses.

They'll staple some 7X50's to the face of the swamp-donkey and parade her out as a victim and - whammo - she's our next president!! We're freakin' doomed if the gimmedats continue voting themselves largesse from the treasury.

You know they will, so now what? Whose head will roll. My bet is no one and they will say, " we need better communication in the future blah blah blah. We'll try better next time." Just my global 2 units worth.:D

Most male entitlement recipients won't bother to vote next time. The females will vote for Hillary-probably nearly all of them-including many conservatives. That's a given, but I think we'll get a bigger cut of the Latino vote.

If we get somebody with nads in there, and Billary gets busted for Benghazi, we can take back the firebase.

IMO, we'll get both sides of Congress in November. That may help to minimize the damage Obama's doing, although he seems to be in "all or nothing" mode, right now.
