Back when our kids were in grade school, they started BUSSING,, it was the FIX that would cure un-equal education for the poor.

It didn't fix anything.

At the time, I proposed that instead of bussing the kids, that we should rotate the teachers on a two yr bases. The costs saving in gas for the busses along was staggering.

Rotating the teachers would allow all the kids equal access to the good,, and bad teachers.

I also wanted to get some sort of pay for performance for teachers, as an incentive to reward the best and possible create a exit point for the bad.

Needless to say, my union teacher friends would have none of this revolutionary counter point.

As one of our more erudite sages is often quotes "and so it goes" round and round and round... :munchin

The school system there has so many flaws it is hard to list from what I have been told.

First to get a teaching credential means working for a full year full time for free. Lots of good candidates can't afford to do this.

The PC teaching they teach there such as gay and lesbian studies and other special interest groups they detract from what they should be teaching.

The teachers many times are under paid, yet the administration is way over paid and there are way to many administrators.

Instead of kicking the knuckle head kids and gang bangers out they coddle them and allow them to disrupt the school.

This is what I was told a few yeas ago by a couple of people in the system there so I am going on their word not firsthand knowledge. The list goes on and on I hear.
