The Air Force ground troops and Navy took a big hit.

Justified as it may be for many it's just another one of those perks for being away from home that's gone.

If this keeps up they'll start taking some of your pay when they send you overseas - since it's such a good deal.

3rd Group when they first stood up.

You think these same areas might lose their tax free status?
Wouldn't surprise me if the SECDEF might push this.

They have to take away the danger pay first then they will hit the tax exempt. Just wait a month or two.......

I can see a lot of them, but then there are some that should be gone that aren't. I never understood why Navy got theirs for floating in the ocean. I could see it for pulling into port in in a country that has IDP.

I don't see how Horn of Africa still gets it and Keyna, when a place like Kyrgyzstan doesn't.

When I was TDY to Aviano, IT back in the 90's, I remember reading in the Stars and Gripes about a congressman saying that the stipend for being a POW should be taken away.

Why?

Well, if the Troops knew about it, they wouldn't fight hard because they knew they'd get extra cash for being a POW.

Yeah. "Man, I can't WAIT to be captured! I'm gonna parlay that extra green into a fortune!!"
