Company Is Moving Operations to Wyoming and Texas
Magpul Industries announced today that it is relocating its operations to Wyoming and Texas.
The company is relocating manufacturing, distribution and shipping operations to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Magpul is leasing a 58,000 square foot manufacturing and distribution facility during the construction of a 100,000 square foot build-to-suit facility in the Cheyenne Business Parkway. The Wyoming relocation is being completed with support from Governor Matt Mead, the Wyoming Business Council and Cheyenne LEADS.
Magpul is moving its corporate headquarters to Texas. Three North Central Texas sites are under final consideration, and the transition to the Texas headquarters will begin as soon as the facility is selected. The Texas relocation is being accomplished with support from Governor Rick Perry and the Texas Economic Development Corporation.
“Magpul made the decision to relocate in March 2013 and has proceeded on an aggressive but deliberate path” says Doug Smith, Chief Operating Officer for Magpul Industries. “These dual moves will be carried out in a manner that ensures our operations and supply chain will not be interrupted and our loyal customers will not be affected.”
The company began a nationwide search for a new base of operations after legislation was enacted in Colorado that dramatically limits the sale of firearms accessories – the core of Magpul’s business. Magpul plans on initially transitioning 92% of its current workforce outside of Colorado within 12-16 months and will maintain only limited operations in Colorado.
"Moving operations to states that support our culture of individual liberties and personal responsibility is important,” says Richard Fitzpatrick, Chief Executive Officer for Magpul Industries. “This relocation will also improve business operations and logistics as we utilize the strengths of Texas and Wyoming in our expansion.”

Wish the companies in California would do the same. Good for Magpul.

Great news - especially for Wyoming and Texas (how come those two choices don't surprise anyone?). NOW - when are they going to get those AK magazines that they've been teasing us with for most of a year to market? (Rumor says they've used the time to improve the design; but still, > a year?) Let's not forget the 25 rd .308 mags while we're asking. :munchin
(Must suck having quality products everyone wants! :p)

Loss of jobs and revenue for Colorado. But what the hell, marijuana sales will make up for it right? Stupid liberal jackasses!
Bullshit!

If one reads the comments in the Denver Post, he will see that what Bob is stating is the way many of the liberals feel. Instead of getting revenue from MJ and Magpul, they claim to be happy to see Magpul go.
Cheyenne isn't a exactly hub for distribution.......
Cheyenne isn't a exactly hub for distribution.......
Not exactly.
But look on the bright side, with so many like minded persons gravitating to that part of the country............we won't have long shipping lead times.
:)
Cheyenne isn't a exactly hub for distribution.......
A city that lies on the intersection of I-25 that runs north/south from Canada to Mexico, and I-80 that runs east/west from San Francisco to NYC...yeah, what a terrible location for distribution.

I was hoping Colt and Mossberg would follow suit here in Commiecticut.

That's all right - PTR did. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/01/07/locked-loaded-gun-maker-finds-warmer-surroundings-in-south-carolina-after/?intcmp=latestnews I'm indifferent to H&K designs but they have a decent product and they're not afraid to stand on their principles so I might have to reward them with some business. Besides - they're enroute to the beach so it's not even out of the way!
In the NW corner of I-80 and I-25 is a Walmart distro facility. More semis run in there a day than Wyoming has residents!
or darn near...
Any idea where in Texas? Hopefully next door to Larue Tactical so they will both be 7 miles from my front door. :D

Is anything from Waco south in the North Central Texas area? If I were to guess it will be someplace within 50 miles of DFW, but I'm only guessing. It's a much better Transportation hub with better airport connections.
Another company not afraid to make a move on principle.
BERETTA: Maryland disrespects us and gun owners, so we expand in Tennessee
Ugo Gussalli Beretta

My family has operated our business from the same small town in northern Italy for 500 years. This means that when we make a commitment to a local community, our hope is to do so for decades, if not centuries, to come.
We apply this same philosophy to all of our factories and locations throughout the world. Such a commitment is not a one-way street, though.
In return for our investment in jobs, facilities and assistance to the local economy, we ask for respect and a supportive business climate.
We deserve such respect. We make the standard sidearm for the U.S. armed forces. We also make firearms that police and consumers use to save their lives and the lives of others.
We also make sporting firearms that are enjoyed by tens of millions of people worldwide, from Olympic shooters to weekend hunters.
Our business has grown in recent years, and because of that, we needed to expand production in our U.S facility, located in Accokeek, just outside of Washington, D.C., in the Maryland suburbs.
Unfortunately, as we were planning that expansion, Maryland’s governor and legislature voted in favor of new regulations that unfairly attack products we make and that our customers want.
These regulations also demean our law-abiding customers, who must now be fingerprinted like criminals before they can be allowed to purchase one of our products.
We have seen these types of legislative proposals in Maryland before, and they never seem to reduce crime. Maybe this is because the proponents of such legislation blame the product instead of human misconduct.’
But in any event, because of these new restrictions and the pattern of harassment aimed at lawful firearm owners we have seen in Maryland over the decades, we decided to expand our facilities in a state that shows more respect for citizens who exercise their Second Amendment rights.
We chose Tennessee for our new facility expansion. Our plans for that location are extensive and long-lasting.
We chose Tennessee because the governor and legislators in that state understand what it means to support businesses (such as through job recruitment and training programs) that improve employment in the state without treating companies as a necessary evil.
We chose Tennessee also because the vast majority of its residents and their elected officials have shown that they respect and honor the American tradition of personal freedoms, including the right to bear arms.

I'm glad I didn't accept that job there last year. I had a feeling that they were going to start pulling out and heading elsewhere when owe-malley signed SB281 into law. It won't be long before they uproot out of MD all together.
Perhaps, time to buy Beretta...I have been considering a new shotgun...
Can always use more Magpul...
The upstate NY, CT and the Massachusetts based firearms companies should be exploring their options.

Sorry, but all I can see is Don Corleone sitting in his chair.
Bonasera, Bonasera. What have I ever done to make you treat me so disrespectfully? If you'd come to me in friendship, then this scum that wounded your daughter would be suffering this very day. And if by chance an honest man like yourself should make enemies, then they would become my enemies. And then they would fear you.
:D
Lol, leave the gun...take the cannolis...:D
