The boots, which sell for $45, went on sale to the public Saturday morning, and chaos and violence erupted across the nation at stores selling the shoes. At a Walmart in Stockton, Calif., a fight broke out among customers, one of whom was shirtless, prompting police to arrive and find the participants had fled. At the Southwest Center Mall in Dallas, some people tried to cut in line at 6 a.m., and police were summoned. Later, NBC reported in a possibly related incident, "two rival groups of young men" had a shootout at the food court in the mall. A Boot Locker store in the Bronx at 151st street was the site of another fight. The situation has grown so intense that some stores have instituted a raffle system rather than sell the bootss first-come, first-serve.

Ridiculous.

The only pair of boots I ever fought over were a pair of Tony Lamas that I lost in a redneck joint during a drunken pool game.

I didn't get 'em back and left the bar in my socks.

Agree with you regarding the Tony Lamas, however I would like to hear how you came to be in a bar playing pool in your stocking feet? Strip pool perhaps. :p

Tony Lamas used to be worth fightin' over.

He used to trace your foot over a piece of leather, and fit the boot exactly to the bones of your feet. Most comfortable footwear you could ever own.

Now, most cowboy boots' uppers are the only part made in the US.
