Read Bateman's original, full article at Esquire to understand the ridiculousness of his stance on guns:

Some sources are saying he's in the New York Guard - not the New York National Guard.

Little bit of difference if it's true.

Apparently Bateman is president and founder of Alliance Defense Marketing Associates LLC (http://www.admallc.com/Services.html), a “global premier risk management” firm that does work for the DHS.

Go here and look at his listing. http://www.zoominfo.com/p/Robert-Bateman/1584725228

Looks like he is National Guard and is the G2. Not a full timer from what I have been able to find. A guy in our office emailed him and this guy stated he was a west point grad active duty teaching right now at West Point. Can someone with AKO check and see if he is listed in any shape or form ?

This guy is a member of every type of group you can think of. He has his name on Association board after board. How do you have time to be on all of them and still have a job. Something smells about this guy.

Wait for me to die to pry it from my cold, dead hands?
How old is he?

Plenty of firearms being transferred among private parties in Free America (including preemptive de facto inheritances).
Hard to confiscate them if you don't know who has them.

California and New York have shown what happens when firearms are registered.
Citizens elsewhere are unlikely to repeat the error.

Just a desperate rant from a fading liberal, raging at the dying of his light.
Yeah, I'll still have my guns (and my kids will, too) long after he's pushing up daisies.

Well Richard on your post he is a LTC on other postings he is a COL. I still would like to know what AKO list him as and where. His own bio list COL and NYNG G2.

His email yesterday to a co-worker said he was active duty LTC and a professor at West Point.

What is the real deal with this guy.....

I don't think he has actually been in the military. Please correct me if I'm wrong but the "New York Guard" isn't actually part of the national guard. http://dmna.ny.gov/nyg/ ...Many New York Guard members are retired members of the National Guard and other military services, however military experience is not a prerequisite to membership."

I became pretty good friends with a LTCOL who was extremely considerate to my family during a really difficult time. He shocked me over dinner one night when he said only "professionals" should possess handguns and magazine-fed rifles and he would have no problem carrying out an order to confiscate all weapons from civilians if he was given a lawful order. He's now an active duty brigadier general.

This guy is not alone.

lol Can you imagine the conflagration if National or even state-by state confiscation were attempted?

Even a high percentage of Obama voters would never let you take their weapons out of their still-living hands.

Not gonna happen. Oh, it might be instigated, but it ain't gonna wind up with a happy ending.

...or you made a purchase through a FFL or used a credit card or purchased two handguns in a week, triggering a Multiple Disposition of Handguns report, or maybe even talked about owning a firearm on this very public forum. Does anyone think the ATF wouldn't use data mining of social media to protect the children from dangerous and heavily armed felons?

Early last year a young woman from the Chicago office of the BATF called asking about a FFL holder who'd handled a couple of out-of-state transfers for me over the years. She had the name of the FFL on the other end of each transaction and the manufacturer, model and serial numbers of the firearms. They were interested if the required waiting periods were enforced. She was very sweet...sounded like a summer intern.

If there's a big enough opportunity (terrorist attack using locally sourced AR-15s) it won't be wasted.

I am watching how that transpires with great interest. For all the talk of normal civilians resisting a confiscation, how many will put up or shut up....

I have taken to buying anything from private sales within the state. I do not want to have any more records and 4473s on file.

To be honest I probably wouldn't actively resist and I don't personally know of anyone who would. We'd dodge and weave and buy cosmoline but I don't know anyone who'd kiss his family good bye and make a stand against LEOs with a lawful warrant. That's why I'm in process of moving to a locale where the LEOs wouldn't comply. It isn't the only reason but it's part of it.

Obama knows better than to pop open that can o' worms. State-by-state would be the only viable shot at confiscation, and you can look at a red/blue map and surmise that ain't goin' nowhere.

While I want to think that.... I am not sure. Their best bet for nationwide confiscation is to wait until my generation's children are grown and they will not have as large of a problem with it. Though I don't know if they are that patient.

Never thought I would hear Dusty say "Obama knows better" :p

I'm not saying he won't do everything he can in his normal manner, e.g. selective law enforcement, campaigning against fictitious powers-that-be, passing bills before anybody reads them, getting Reid to go nuclear, and so forth.

I'm saying that he or his teleprompter are aware that 1. he needs to use a lob wedge on the 8th at the Vineyard 2. Don't try a fed gun grab when 50 states have CCW and there's as much ammo on the streets as there is now.

Toaster, I don't blame you in the least for being worried about your heirs.

Then you don't know any Special Forces soldiers..... there is only one thing on this planet that I would "kiss my family goodbye" and that is Freedom.

Any agency that attempts to take my Freedom from me will meet a warrior switched to kill. And you can take that to the bank. :munchin

No, I don't know any QPs personally. I'm occasional poker-friends with a Force Recon guy and a dude even older than me who was in the first wave at lz x-ray at Ia Drang (his plates say LZ X-RAY). The former has four kids and the latter is raising his granddaughter. I don't think either would start a firefight in a residential neighborhood full of kids. They say they would, but...

Strek-fu, moving them or caching them is what I meant by dodging and weaving. That's not shooting.

"And in Arizona, a deranged gunman..."--cut to a clip of the sobbing wife and children of the cop you shot. Cue neighbor: "We've been expecting something like this. Never got along with him; he yelled at me once and called me a nancy-boy cuz I owned a Glock. Made damn good ribs, though."

As I said, my plan is to be living in a locale where I've talked to the local LE and know their minds. And I do think most States will avoid confiscation, but NY and CA are certainly two that won't. I'll be shocked if there's any resistance when they start confiscating those 10/22s.

If they are confiscating firearms it won't be "And in Arizona, a deranged gunman...." it will be occurring all over. Based on your posts, I would say you might be infected by livinig-in-illinois syndrome. Might want to get that checked out.

Don't count on those cops to honor their oaths, either. WHen it comes down to it, those living in the Progressive regions know where their life-time pensions come from and will follow their orders.

Yes, sir. I'm sorry, I thought I had already posted an intro, then I saw my post counter at one, and knew I was in the doghouse already. As far as the search, It seems to not want to work with my phone. The dialog kept going away when I tried to type Bateman's name in. As far as he goes, I'm glad to see not all of y'all are on the same page as he, or I figure we could just hang it up.

I merged the threads. The SEARCH function is your friend; if your phone won't allow you to use it, I suggest you wait until you're on a system that will allow it before starting any threads. Richard
