View Full Version : Sig p220 SF model?
So today I was browsing a local pawn shop and stumbled upon a Sig p220 with the SF crest. I was wondering if any of you gentlemen could shed some light on if it's a rare piece, and the history behind it. The serial number has "SF" in it. He has it listed for $799 plus tax.

Looks like a "deployment" pistol from a 5th SFG(A) Soldier. Sig has been very generous with their support of units/individuals wishing to commemorate some special event/association, usually a deployment. The process involves assembling a group buy and getting enough people involved to receive favorable pricing. I'm somewhat surprised to see one on the secondary market though.
I searched for a good while and only found one other that sold and it was for $1300. So I'm thinking this would be a good buy. He has 4 mags that'll go with it. I'm thinking it might be a Christmas present for myself. Do you know if there's any difference between it and a regular p220?

It is a standard model with the special etching.
Deployment pistols with special etching like that are typically sold for less. The person buying them generally has no ties to the unit or event. They're not particularly desirable, other than being a good deal. The ones that have come into the gun shop where I work on occasion are typically cerakoted over.
