I was invited to the South African company Truvello to shoot their new Sniper rifles today. Started on a .308 or 7.62 rifle which shot very accurately with the recoil of a .22. Proceeded to the .50BMG with a new suppressor which brought recoil down to around .500 Gibbs level. The noise however was impressive , especially as the range was underground and indoor. Truvello designed and manufacture the entire gun, barrels and all at their facility. They produce these rifles in all the calibers you see on the photo. From .223 to 20mm x 110 Cannon.

It did get you to read it though.
Some more history on the SA gun.
The first .50 sniper weapon was developed by Mechem in 1985 for the purpose of shooting Mi 24 Hind helicopters in Mozambique in support of RENAMO. The barrels were procured from UNITA's Russian tanks anti aircraft weapons as these are the strongest type being used on a machine gun. These tanks were the ones captured by the SADF during Ops Protea and donated to UNITA. The sniping training was done at CSI's Fort Saint Michel base in the Eastern Caprivi at their Ingwe base. It was initially shot off a theodolite tripod and it kicked like a mule. Later it was sold commercially by Mechem and used on the Special Forces sniping course.
