Why does Department of the Navy get 6 slots, and SF doesn't get any?

Gotta love that disclaimer, though:
P.S. This list, as i mentioned above, isn’t representing official list, and it’s only list in my point of view. I don’t care if you agree or not agree, just avoid to send me spam mails.

Is this a serious publication, and if so, who's the editor?

Four out of the top ten are Marine units.

I thought they weren't even SOF till six or eight years ago.

ANGLICO, but no SF. Hmm.

ANGLICO and Fleet AT Security team? Really? But no SF? Who the efe wrote this? Talk about bias (or ignorance).

I also like how pretty much every comment is that the guy who wrote that is a douche.

#10 were the FAST teams which are:

"ready for rapid deployment when US Government installations throughout the world require additional security."

... except Libya.

No Cav-Scout?

That reads like a DoN press release.

Just more reading fodder for X-Box crowd.

The author is from "Special - Ops. org". and uses the tag line "Elite Magazine For Elite Warriors". Uh, really? I can see it now, the Elite Warriors sitting around, doing shots of jack, high fiving and smoking Cuban cigars after taking down another bad guy, one Elite Warrior calls out across the room, "Hey Hacksaw! Have you read the latest blog on Special Ops. org?" "F**k ya bro, that shit's elite!" Damn, where do I subscribe?

IMHO any type of list like that would have to be broken down even further in order to warrant any serious discussion. For example maybe broken down into sub lists like SOF - DA/CT, SOF - Intell, SOF - Force Pro, SOF - UW, SOF - CSAR. Then maybe some of the USMC SOF would rate showing up on a "list". :p

I find it interesting that the ISA is #5. Hell, before that dousche-nozzle (can't think of his name off the top of my head) did that graphic novel comic book about them most people had no idea they were even around - much less what they actually do (which is still, fortunately, very much misunderstood).

How many of those units rode by horseback into an AO, organized and trained a guerrilla force, fought the established regime, over-threw the regime and established a new government/country?

Yep. And it only took what? Maybe 3 weeks?

I gotta say, even my Jarhead self thinks that buffoon is smoking crack. FAST and ANGLICO?? No slur to them but they both conventional units. Actually, as is Force Recon. Otherwise, there wouldn't be a MARSOC. This idiot needs a tutorial on who and what are Special Operations Forces. Otherwise, the 82nd may be on his top 15 list.

More than that comic I think it is the show "Person Of Interest" that made people aware of the ISA and led to the misunderstanding.

This is quite a bad list that has been put up. With most of the civilian crowd I think the statement "US SF primarily train foreign militaries/guerilla forces" that makes them think that SF are just some sort of teachers, this is something I don't like. Little do they know the wide range of capabilities of SF.

As an outsider if you do not mind me asking, does the USMC hold a negative opinion of SF?

I remember reading quite a poor article written by a Marine that was criticising SF based on the 60 minutes segment on the 7th Grp. in Afghanistan.

I know that SOME do, most don't however. A funny thing is, I, and a couple of other SF, we're part of the eight man team that worked the then proposal of the now MARSOC.

If they don't like SF, elf them. If they do, thank them and buy 'em a beer.

I can definitely say that no, Marines as a rule, do not hold SF in a negative light. Actually, the specific reason that the Marine Corps made Recon a Career Field was that a large number of Force Recon Marines left the Corps and joined SF in the '70s-90s. (I are one...)

One of the Marines that had a lot to do with the planning that went into MARSOC was Mack Duke, a former MACV-SOG SF guy. Marines do, however, hold all other branches of service in varying levels of contempt. But this is a generalized thing, that can beselectively applied or not to various units they come in contact with. Just like the generalized Jarhead bashing that others engage in. No real malice.

As far as I can tell, and I may be wrong, but it looks like this site is run by some guy from the Balkans. He probably has "semper fi" in the site header not fully understanding its meaning in an American context.

Pardon my $.02 cents here; but whoever he/she/it is, it doesn't appear as if English is their first language. And anyway I think "Cobwebs" said it best:
