He really rolls em, I had no idea that hogs could be so acrobatic. How cheap can it be to hunt anything from a helicopter?

Looks like fun huh? :D

I had a couple of friends who were door gunners on Hueys in Vietnam and they occasionally would shoot at water buffalo that were in rice paddies. They even said that sometimes the tracers would richochet off of the animal depending on where they hit it. :p

Not cheap, for that particular helicopter I'm guessing about $400.00 per hour to operate.

I know that they are an invasive species that causes significant damage to ecosystems, but it still bugs me a little to see just a wanton slaughter.

I mean, that isn't really hunting, is it? Pest control, maybe, but not hunting.

I wish there was a way to recover & use all that meat - think of the BBQs that could be had! (This was in Texas, after all...)

This is not hunting, It's game management and for certain species, it may be the only way to keep them in control.

The US, and other countries, are experiencing un-bounded game population growth do exclusively to tree huger mentality/leadership.

Ask someone from Oz about rabits and Roos.

Ask someone from DC about rats.

Ask Florida about Snakes.

You can't have stable populations of any critter, when their natural predation is hampered. Or, in the case of larger critters, you stop hunting.

As to the disposition of the hog's?? In Florida, I think they still warn about blood borne pathogens in the Southern areas. Wear long gloves, use disinfectant on utensils, & cook until well done.

I know that many in Texas collect and donate the meat to shelters and others that can use it as food. Many are also collected and used as pork by the hunters.

Charles C. Mann's book: 1491 has some insights on the consequences of the land going feral.

AL was not wrong in labeling the thread "hunting".

This is just another style that is used for culling game. It's a bit expensive, but can be very effective in open areas when you need the volume.

If they were to deploy MQ-9's,, it's still hunting PIGS...
